You dont HAVE to seperate them to get the Eibachs in. Did you compress the coils?

    Would this way work well

    4WD suggested this:
loosen the lower ball joint bolts & remove (4 of them), lower the ball joint, now loosen (do not take out !! ) the 2 bolts of your lower control arm (not really neccessary to mark the current adjustment location) this should allow your LCA to drop plenty to slide the assembled strut up into the strut/shock tower, put the 3 nuts on the studs to hold strut in place & you shouldn't have any problem aligning the lower bolt hole with the LCA...

What do you mean by compress the coils? I compressed them when I installed the top plate?

Would a pry bar work? How do I do that without tearing the boot for the ball joint?

Yes. All i had to do was pull out the old coil assembly, drop the LCA enough to slide the new coil assembly up, then bolt the lower shock bolt.

That's why I bought new top plates from Napa and assembled the new 883 and shocks.
-I took the old setup out
-I used my trucks bottle jack and jacked the UCA down until I could fit the new assembly in

The fronts were the easy ones. The new dakars leafs punished me thoroughly!

I used my bottle jack as well, but every time I got the uca low enough the spring couldn't get past the upper ball joint...

Question, how important is it that I torque everything on my suspension back to spec vs. with just a impact wrench? I know that after 500 miles or so you're supposed to tighten everything up again. I was just wondering because using a impact is a lot faster than making sure each and every bolt is to spec.

Use the impact on low setting untill it just snugs. Then use torque wrench

    Gotcha, Thanks!

On a different note, anybody have any good ideas for a good in bed spare tire mount? Or are there modifications I can do to the stock spare tire carrier to fit a 33x12.50x15 tire?

So my wheels came in today, but they just slightly rub the brake caliper... I'm just going to get some 1/4 wheels spacers and it should be good to go. Anybody have any recommendations on where to by the wheel spacers from?

How much do they rub? Can you perform some creative honing to stop the rubbing?

I was hoping they weren't going to rub either...Their shipping costs are so much lower than Wheelers.

The barely rub at all, just enough to not be a good idea to drive. I could probably grind off a very thin amount of the calipers, but I'd rather just buy some 1/4" spacers and be good.

Thinking about getting these spacers from Wheelersoffroad... Seem like a good idea?

Get 4 but maybe just use on the front? Do you think 1/4" is all you need?

I would expect 1/4" to be enough, but I'm not 100%... I think that buying four and if 1/4" isn't enough then stacking them will be what I do... These wheels let you use pretty much all of the wheel studs, so I'm not worried about the lugs not having enough to hold on to.
