I think it'll look fine sitting about 3/4" higher than this :D

Ordered the greasable main eye bolts, u-bolts, and some black lug nuts from Wheeler's Offroad.

I'll be upgrading to expos eventually. Should have done it originally but shipping was ridiculous so I went with dakars instead.

The free shipping was the only reason I ordered them haha

Wasn't planning on doing this until next year.

I'd just add the made for the dakar pack insteak of going with a whole new leaf pack. Worth a shot at least for $60. That's what Boxrocket runs.

If you still had the stock leaf pack I would say go with the expos but since you currently have the dakars it seems like a better option to just upgrade it.

Very true. I looked into getting Dakar's but didn't want to take the chance of them not being sturdy enough.

I have the AAL already. They went in at the same time. Still not quite what I was hoping for. My shell doesn't help either. Without the shell I'm sure they would be all I need.

Hmm, glad I didn't go with those then. I already have much more weight in the back of my truck than what a shell weighs.

Yep. I would love to have a RTT, but I also want to keep my shell. But I don't like the idea of having all that weight up high, so I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Expos would only happen if I was getting a tent.

    Plus RTT are soooo 'spensive!
Plus when you're young & single, a canopy/mat/sleeping bag does the job just as well & requires very little set up ;)

That's why I want one of BoxRocket's bed racks. Keeps it below the roof of the cab. He needs to start making them again! Haha

The Dakars are good leaf packs but it sounds like the expos will be a much better option, I was mostly suggesting to ffirg to go with the AAL since he already had the Dakar packs.

I take back my Dakar AAL comment then. I tried lol. Sounds like expos would be a much better option for you.

Edit: Is it the height or handling/weight capacity that is not quite what you were hoping for? Just curious. I'm assuming handling/weight capacity mostly.

The height is OK. I was expecting them to make the rear sit higher or at least level with the front. It did for a few weeks, but not after loading them down once. Now with basically nothing but a small action packer with straps/a few tools and a shovel in the back, it sits slightly lower than the front. That's with the shell of course. The ride is awesome though. I love that part. But when I load up for a camping or fishing trip, it squats pretty bad. I'll be adding shackles for a quick fix for ride height, but ultimately I'll need new packs.

Yeah, well when I'm 6'4'' and my bed is only 5' long, it poses a few problems for sleeping haha.

Yeah I love the look of them, but I want dry storage as well. I'm too picky

Mine squats a good inch or two lower than the front. I need new leafs... Haha
