Hi fellas. Hope you’re doing fine. I’m certainly not great. I bought a 2020 Tacoma TRD SPORT 4x4 with a Salvage Certificate that had an accident in the suspension. I fixed everything and everything looked good the only thing I had left to do was find the way to get the PCS(off) light of the Dashboard. After doing some research (every thread on Tacoma World and Reddit) and try some things out, I finally decided it was time to take it to the dealership. They said they couldn’t do it bc the truck had an aftermarket lift. If it would be stock, or a lift sold by them, then they can do it. But not on mine. They said the light was on because last owner had to get the windshield replaced and, as the radar camera is there, system was temporarily disabled but never enabled again. So I started calling every shop that lift trucks and no one could do it but one. He has every tool needed to calibrate ADAS. They tried to do it every way they could but they couldn’t get it done. They said they couldn’t even access the system. I would just let this go and see the light in the dashboard. But since I need to get the Salvage Inspection in order to get the title, I can’t just leave it like that. Any suggestion instead of going back to stock? Seems to be my only option at this point. Thank you very much and I appreciate any kind of help.

UPDATE: Got new sensor and I haven’t got it calibrated yet but my scanner is now showing an error code. With the other one which was disabled it didn’t even showed an error code so I think I need to get it calibrated and should be ok. I’ll update again once I took it to the shop.

UPDATE: PCS light is off. Been recalibrated with new sensor and it worked. Old sensor does not work any more. I got this done by an aftermarket shop with the ADAS calibration system and tools. Thanks for all the help

Go to a windshield/auto glass shop and pay them to re-calibrate the system. I’d avoid Safelite…

Pretty sure once it's been disabled, you can't activate it again until you replace the radar.

I don't know if there is a "temporary" disable option?

    See the TSB attached.

@Bishop84 is there a "temporary" disable option for the PCS?
AFAIK, it's either disabled or it isn't.

As @TnShooter shared, once PCS is deactivated permanently, it is done until you replace the sensor on the grille. The PO probably had it disabled at some point. The dealer probably won’t do anything for you even with a new sensor until you get rid of the lift. Maybe try a different dealer, but either way pretty sure you will need a new front sensor.

I believe actually disabling it is permanent. However, using Carista or Tech stream, an owner can make it to where the PCS on/off setting has memory and retains its setting after restarting. To me having the ability to turn it off indefinitely but not permanently is far more ideal than simply disabling it permanently with no way to bring it back without purchasing parts and having calibration labor done again. Plus even the disable option leaves that damn light on for good, same as simply turning it off.

Re: "Replacing the millimeter wave radar"

    Ouch.

Sounds expensive: Like one of those: "If you have to ask how much you can't afford it" moments.

The OP never authorized it to be disabled, his info was the windshield camera was unplugged and never recalibrated. The dealership can’t “permanently disable” PCS without written approval from the owner. I don’t think replacing the radar unit is needed. This has all the signs of a PCS light on because of the glass being replaced. The dealership won’t do the windshield recalibration because it’s lifted. I don’t think Safelite will either, but other autoglass shops certainly will.

I said the PO probably had it disabled, not the OP. Either way, we don’t really know why it’s not working, but if it was permanently disabled then he is buying a new sensor if he cares enough. But maybe it’s just the windshield and maybe luck will have it that he can find a shop to fix it.

Interesting you say that as I have had nothing but great service from Safelite. Three windshields on three different vehicles and two side windows on other vehicles. Zero issues.

Good thoughts . What if you unplugged the sensor in the grill for a day or so? Then plug it back in.

They do what they do just fine. But I don’t think their company policy allows recalibrating Tacoma’s at a non-stock height.

I venture to say, nothing would happen.
Be about the same as disconnecting the battery for a couple hours.
No power, is no power. Unplugged is “no power”.

i’m not a fan of Safelite. I had a commuter car while I was still working. A little Honda Civic. End up having them replace the glass. Ended up with all kinds of crazy electrical issues and a wet floorboard. Never had any issues before the windshield replacement.

long story short they missed about an inch and a half of sealant at the bottom of the corners. They cost about $6000 in damage with the letter from a lawyer Safelite paid for it maybe related incident however I’ve read many many issues with Safelite glad to hear , you’ve had zero issues

I’m on an island so the windshield shops are only a few and none will do it. There’s also only one Toyota Dealership so I’m running out of options. But I bought the sensor and I’ll try to get it done that way. Thanks for your help
