The on base certification guy said that too much front tire is exposed. I asked him what the difference was between my front end and a Jeep and he said the factory settings on the Jeep are allowed but no modifications from factory bumpers exposing more than what comes from the factory. verboten

Just getting our vehicles ready for the German specs as we are relocating to Germany this Summer. Will get the Para21 Inspection and the Tacoma as well as the 4Runner converted to German specs. For the 2023 Tacoma I will run it through a company in Bremerhaven to get the mods and the inspection done. Needs the rear red fog light plus switch on the left switch panel and the reverse lights are going to be modified into the turn signals, as Germany requires orange turn signals. Consequently, I will need a reverse light attached also. AC runs with R1234yf, so that is good to go. Headlights are SAE AHLI5PP2DRL 20 (LED with LED DRL) and the parking lights are white. Also good to go. Mirrors have integrated turn signals, also a requirement. Seed indicator is MI and km/h plus the digital one can be switched to km/h. Good to go. The trailer hitch is factory attached, just need a 50mm ball for the tongue and the German DIN wiring. Emission will be EURO6 for the Tacoma (EURO4 for the 2008 4Runner). That means we can drive in all cities, also those with smog restrictions.
Just hope Toyota has issued a data sheet, else I have to get a speed and noise measuring done also...
Unfortunately, nothing like off-road bumpers or aftermarket skid plates allowed. For the roof or bed rack - that is considered loading and load and road safety is driver's responsibility. All in all, I should be walking away with a $2K for the mods and the inspection.
However, some issues remain: No map coverage on the nav system. Have to use apple car play and google maps. The GSM works on 900/1800, so the US 1800 does not work. Consequently, the remote functions via Toyota app will not work. Spare parts are not available in Germany, have to be ordered via Brussels, Belgium, (plus $$$). Will bring tons of spare parts for both vehicles in the move there.

Ahhh, the joys of shipping a vehicle overseas.

    I shipped my 2003 Honda Pilot to Germany (2003-06) & Italy (2008-2011).

Believe it or not, amber turn signals weren't required in either location--must be new requirement.

I can't imagine taking a truck over there with all the bells & whistles we Americans like to put on our vehicles. (Americans like to stand out)

All the best to you guys going to Europe!

2013 was the year of big changes... But better haven those mods done than living without MY Tacoma!
The car market in Germany has gone crazy also. Rather have the mods and keep the brand-new car (and the 2008 4Runner) than spending another 60-70EUR to get the car I want.
