Thank you, but smitty has me blocked 'cause I got smart with him once, so he probably didn't see it.

I really stand by what I said. It's not something your DD desperately needs, but at the same time years and miles of PCV emission does accumulate in intakes. So basically, do what you want.

I'm not claiming to be an ASE cert with a distinguished career of experience, but I have turned my fair share of wrenches and have 1000's of hours of "garage time" pulling apart motors, suspensions, brake systems, troubleshooting, and so on. I don't just spout the stuff I hear from the internet.

This is a whole 'nother can of worms with condensation, somehow moisture is getting into the PCV blowby. Usually short trips in cold weather. Your catch can should normally catch just plain old, minimally grody oil.

This part is pointless. Some will lay fro the insurance, some won't.

I was more interested in exposing here how you explicitly dismissed this concept on page one without even understanding what it was intended to do. No "qualified mechanic" had even offered an opinion and you were already chalking this up as "pointless".

So you are the master tech and you didn't want to call yourself out? Sounds like that is what you are saying.

There's one current Toyota/ Lexus tech and one former GM/Honda tech, but still in the industry. I'm in auto design and wrench for the race team now. We have a bunch of mechanical engineers at work, mostly book and theory smarts, can't turn a wrench to save their lives. Not saying KennedyUSMC is one of these as his posts usually make a lot of sense, as does Nitori. The two "mechanics" on here were fucking around with some shit posting. LOL.

As Nitori summed it up, it's not necessary on a DD. It's why you have regular service intervals scheduled with the dealer, based on how severe your vehicle operating conditions are. They can do the cleaning service. Most dealers only spray some canned spray cleaner down the intake tract during this service and you get charged something like $80 for it. LOL.
For those that don't do dealer service, then you deal with the evil engine vapors and varnish the way you see fit. Some states won't allow you to tamper with emissions related components and I'm in one of them. I'd fail visual inspection immediately if a catch can with a hose attached to the valve cover was spotted.

Thanks, now I get it. Interested in this so will investigate a little further.

NJ used to do thorough inspection at the state inspection stations before budget cuts. Now it is a check of emmissions and check engine light and out the door. New cars get a 5 year sticker so my first check is 2021.

Here is a good example of what a catch can will catch. Without a catch can, a good portion of what is caught in this example would have been burned in the combustion process. The other portion that's not burned ends up where it ends up.

If you don't install a catch can on your car, good for you. Your car is not going to blow up. If you do install a catch can, good for you. Your car is not going to blow up.

Oh you meant deep-fried. I was about to head over to urban dictionary to see if "deep-friend" was listed.
