Bought an aftermarket PCV valve from AutoZone that is for my 2007 Tacoma 4.0

I pulled the hose off the valve today and the PCV seemed from my perspective to be flush with the block. When I installed the new one I threaded it by hand and with a socket it didn't sit flush. I was afraid to crank it down much more as it seemed tight. It sits out a bit. Also there was no grommet that I saw. Anyway I removed it and put the original one back in and noticed it doesn't sit flush either It sure looked as if it was flush when I pulled the hose off. I'll get an OEM from Toyota tomorrow.

I was kind of pressed for time when I did this and noticed that the valve is not threaded all the way up so it wouldn't sit flush. I never took note on the original. I've included a photo It looks as if two or three of the threads at top are clean

    Holy stripped head, Batman! LOL

I recently changed mine out with an OEM unit. They are designed not to sit flush when torqued. Tourque it to 20 ft/lb and you should be good.

lol it's not stripped. Just cheap Chinese metal. You would think that it would at least go in all the way as far as it was threaded.

    Everything A-OKAY now. Thanks

I went ahead and picked up an OEM PCV valve and just installed it. Used a little anti-seize on the threads and just as the aftermarket PCV valve, it didn't thread all they way down either. I guess the one that was in the truck must have been the original one at time of manufacture but it did sit flush. They must have really spun it around pretty good. Caused a little confusion. Probably explains why I had such a heck of a time getting it out even after using penetrating oil

Now if only the black tip sharks get out of the area I might be able to do some surfing tomorrow
