PCV valve replacement

    Had my truck 3 months and this is one of the things I've changed just to be preventative. Super easy and cheap... Your right there when you're doing plugs so just swap it out

    I did mine last weekend. The old one rattled and seemed to be functioning fine, but I'm working through the 60k mile service on a new-to-me truck so I just replaced it while I was under the hood.

    It bothered me a bit that the valve didn't seat flush with the block even at 20lb./ft. torque. Is that a problem? Should I go back and keep tightening it?

    Edit: after reading the whole thread, seems like it's fine? It was a very firm fit and the old one (factory OEM install as far as I know) is showing only a bit more than half the threads engaged, so I'm going to not worry about it.

    Stock (99.999%) OEM Bed Floor Mat, Front Bed Rail Cargo Net and hooks, Auto-Dim mirror w/Compass and outside Temperature display, TRD Pro Grille, Uni-Filter air pump modification, WeatherTech floor liners f/r. (winter) OEM All-Weather floor mats (summer).
    Re: replace vs. clean: After going to all the effort to remove it, I replaced it and the hose, which had a small split at the valve end. Definitely tapered thread: had about 2/3rds showing before replacement and after.

    The OEM parts are inexpensive and service records indicated it was likely in place for 100,000 miles or so. It still rattled but was somewhat gunked-up. The truck idles better with the new valve and hose.
