I picked the truck up this past Thursday and was immediately disappointed… They suggested and I agreed to take the truck home over the weekend and bring it back this week (today) with my full list of things they need to address, which is good because I crawled around with my creeper in the garage to find a LOT of things that were rushed, broken wiring harness clips, misrouted wiring harness from removing the bumper, chip guard applied way too thick and uneven from front to rear fenders, et al.

Let's just say I had high hopes for a body shop to work like I do with quality and quality assurance before things go out the door.

So truck will likely be gone another month, making my 2021 3 months without my truck in prime camping season.

More updates to come next month.

    Sorry to hear @JasonLee

My story has been just as frustrating. I have taken my Land Cruiser to 4 shops so far: EuroCar, Caliber Collison, Toyota Collison and ReinCARnation, every single one saying they can't locate parts due to the fact that my truck is not manufactured in the USA. WTF? Order the damn parts from Japan, I DGAF. Super frustrating for something that I didn't cause.

eee, ya up until a certain year, all Lexus and higher end (Land Crusier, Avalons) toyotas were only manufactured in Japan for quality assurance.

Well I imported in from Japan, so there's that. LOL
But seriously, it shouldn't be that hard to source parts...

Ok so here is a long overdue update. I got rear ended august of 2021. I was in my JDM imported land cruiser that was never sold in the US. Every shop I went to for an estimate refused to do the work (even Toyota lol) EXCEPT for Justin at Eurocars collision in Colorado Springs. He told me if I could source a used door, he could do the work.
I found a door in Canada for an LJ77, thinking it would match up to my HZJ73. We found out during repairs that the LJ77 door is 10mm wider at the top vs. an HZJ73 door. Wtf Toyota?
Justin and his crew fabbed and welded that door to fit on my 73. It has been 10 months since I was rear ended in my classic land cruiser. And 37 days in the shop. But I got it back today and Justin and his team at Eurocars collision work magic. Thank you Justin and team!
    I recommend them to all’yall.

Ive been in the autobody industry for over a decade now as a painter and currently as a jobber. I get asked for shop recommendations all the time and my number one answer is Jerry Standers Fix Auto in Littleton. Though I would also highly recommend Wreck Effects in Centennial, Carstar Highland South in Denver, SVE in Broomfield, Colorado Coach in Boulder and the Caliber Collision on Robb Street in Wheat Ridge.

want to jump in to ask

What are the best Frame Straightening shops around? The front end of my 2010 JK that I bought salvaged is slightly tweaked to the drivers side on the front end. The frame should be very easily straightened. I just don't know about the support tubes on the upper part of the front end. The tubes behind the quarter panels also need to be pulled slightly straight.

I gotta re-read this thread and find a good body shop in SE Aurora/Parker area. Adjuster came by and doesn't think it's totaled.

Carstar on Jordan Road is well managed, with excellent body techs and a top flight painter. Also Carstar Alpine in Aurora has a great reputation. Those two shops are family owned. I dont know the techs at Alpine, but I know the general manager, used to work for him actually. He runs a great shop and has high standards.

Thanks, I'll look them up! I sent Wreck Effects an email, but the closer the better

Be ready for a long wait… I’ve called around to body shops for the smashed 2023 RAV4 Prime. The first headache is that most don’t want to deal with it being non-drivable. The second headache is that IF they will even put me on the list, it’s 12+ weeks out before they would even start the supplemental process with insurance.

The adjuster said he would expect the repair work to take 2-3 weeks. I lol'd at him and said 2-3 months maybe, it's gonna be a long wait for parts. And then towards the end of talking he said most shops are at least a month out to accept the vehicle...

Hes not wrong unfortunately. Most of my customers are at least 2+ months out. Like many others, this industry is experiencing a brutal labor shortage, especially body techs, as well as continued supply chain issues with parts.

I may toy with the idea of getting the quote/supplemental for repair, and taking on the project myself...replacing body panels I can do. Painting would need to be taken in

Whereas I’m likely screwed for many more than two months with a 2023 RAV4 prime with no parts available…
