Yep, I am not excited for when they roll the RAV4 Prime into the shop for a supplemental estimate and find out that no parts can be had and we’ll be out of a vehicle for 6-9+ months.

    Hopefully your parts appear quickly.

OOOooo fun update... The shop wrote up their supplemental estimate. $71,890.
    Geico's initial estimate was $10k.

This is going to be fun.

Wow! that's an insane difference. The first supplemental quote from the shop came back at $14k. But they still can't do anything further until they start removing stuff and seeing what's damaged underneath. And they can't do that until they have the truck in for repairs. And they can't do that until they get the backordered parts in....

Oh sweet, I appreciate it! Caliber Collision wants to go ahead and order parts and have me pay for it now. But they can't be returned after 15-30 days. So if they remove the bed and measure the frame and it's tweaked, or there's other hidden damage behind the corner of the cab that totals the truck, I'm stuck with already haven paid $7700 for parts

No pay until job is done. Make insurance front the money ahead of time.

Insurance did already cut me a check for $10k after the adjuster came out. Didn't even ask me they just sent the check

Funny enough it has not been. I tried to deposit it on Friday. But insurance, for some reason, made it out to Me & My Bank on the To line. And My Bank said, "we tried three different ways to deposit it, but the system that handles these types of checks is down at the moment"

Spoke with Ken over at Wreck Effects yesterday, thanks for putting in a word @TacoTimbo! He agreed that if the insurance quote was $10k, there must be a ton more damage and actual costs. I sent him over pictures and the two quotes I've received so far. Hopefully I'm able to get in with them. With only 9900 miles on my Tundra, I'd rather it get done to OEM spec

Is it too late to switch shops over to mine? They will ONLY use OEM parts and follow the Toyota documentation for fixes.

I haven't given anyone any money yet so I assume it's not too late to switch shops. What's the name of yours? I'll give them a call if I don't get good news from Wreck Effects.

Well dang, Ken just emailed me saying he and two tech's reviewed the pictures and believe there is going to be frame damage. Unfortunately, they don't know of any shops with a frame puller large enough for this truck and they won't be able to help me. TBH, I would rather it get totaled out instead of making payments on a truck I can't use for the foreseeable future. He did say the Caliber Collision quote looked fairly complete.

@JasonLee please let me know your shop and I'll call them ASAP

This truck over on Tundras forum just got totaled out with frame damage and FAR less body damage than mine...

Ok went back and looked them up, Nylund's Collision Center. Had a really good 10 minute conversation with John. They're only 14 miles away, so gonna drive the truck over later this week for him to look at it and do a repair plan. Though he can't do any real estimates to start working with State Farm until July. Which I said was fine.

Every shop seems to say the same thing, State Farm is the WORST!

Glad you caught up and found it, @scootter82 .

I got an update from the owner earlier - the (different) adjuster stopped by and immediately know it was a total loss, unlike the incompetent initial Geico adjuster. Unfortunately, that incompetent adjuster is our adjuster for the claim so we’re stuck with this guy.

Hopefully we will have a check by the end of the week for market value and then we sit around for months waiting for a replacement RAV4 Prime.

Dropped truck off at Nylunds today. He's doing a repair plan for now, no estimates until they can start taking it apart in July

No promises, but they got the RAV into the shop 6 weeks earlier than roughly estimated. Hopefully you get a resolution ASAP.

They're definitely on the steeper, but more expected labor price side. I do like they're Lexus certified repairers, where literally non of the State Farm shops were even Toyota certified
