They were buffing out a Lexus in the waiting room while I was there. He offered to give me a tour of the place but my ride had an appointment to make. Will check it out next time though. Nice people, and he definitely had the more sane reaction to the damage on my truck compared to the insurance and their shop. And absolutely loved that they mentioned, before I had the chance to, that insurance provided shops wanted money up front for parts before determine any damage underneath those part that may total the vehicle, ie the frame. Which is exactly what CC had as their best option

One example of how Nylunds goes above and beyond:
When the insurance company adjuster came and decided that yes, it was a total loss, Nylunds did a factory reset on the stereo, which removed all synchronized contacts, addresses, settings, et al. These vehicles go to auction and your personal information may be used to sell…

Normally I would have done this if selling a vehicle or returning a rental, but I’m the event of a crash and mess of a process I didn’t get around to it.

Too bad it wasn’t a front end collision, @scootter82 or you could have done this:

I called State Farm to tell them their shop couldn't fix my truck and that it was now at Nylunds. They asked me to hold and all of a sudden I have a Specialist on my case. Except I just got his voicemail. Gonna try again tomorrow to see what that's about.

Also found this article about Nylunds dealing with State Farm and having to invoke the "appraisal clause" which brings in a third party to appraise market value and both parties have to accept outcome, which is usually in the consumers favor

Awesome! Glad you found a new one that quick.

I'm really hoping the tear down on my truck shows more damage. Looking at every other "frame damaged" tundra online I can't imagine mine is fine. I'd rather they total it out and I can move on already.

Took 7 weeks and three insurance companies, multiple adjusters, and Nylunds to push back hard.

State Farm specialist on the case called me today to inform me that Nylund's was on "a list" lol. That I'm under contract with State Farm to use third party parts in the event of a repair, and that any extra costs for OEM parts was on me. Also that Nylund's tends to be more costly because of procedures they do (OEM level repairs) aren't necessary. I told them about the "appraisal clause" and said that's fine, he was basically calling to notify me of the above. So that's gonna be fun to deal with.

Yeah, I’m dropping State Farm asap.

I got screwed by them when my truck was side swiped and I used a body shop that used OEM parts.

I'm about to email Nylunds to see which insurances they prefer to deal with, cause I'm also dropping them as soon as this is done. My M3 is under Hagerty Classic Car insurance, and I've not heard anything bad about them. But they will only insure certain vehicles.

Best option for me, frame is messed up and they total the truck and I get fair market payout.

Second best, they fix the cost at minimum difference in price/out of pocket to me

Third option, is Nylunds at least gets the quote up significantly higher, and if the price difference is still too high, Appraisal Clause.

Last option, I take the higher payout. Take my truck back home. Fix it myself

Just got another notification from State Farm that says the below. Basically dragging this out as long as f'n possible. I thought they had already done that stuff when the adjuster came out...And Nylund's was saying the other week that they hoped to start tear down soon. I should've called insurance earlier to let them know of the shop change. Called Nylunds today to let them know. They are catching up on my new email and notification from State Farm and will call me back.

If your vehicle is already at Nylund’s Collision Center, please do not authorize any teardown to be performed on your vehicle prior to our inspection.
    • You will need to authorize Nylund’s Collision Center to release the vehicle for towing to an inspection site.
o State Farm will pay the cost of the tow to and from the inspection site. Upon our completion of the inspection of your vehicle, we will return it to your selected shop at our expense.
o Failure by you, or Nylund’s Collision Center, to release the vehicle for towing to an inspection site, could result in cost to you and delay the repairs.

Ugh, so they will start disassembling it, give you a lowball quote, automatically mail you a check (DO NOT DEPOSIT IT OR YOURE STUCK WITH THEIR CRAPPY PROCESS), and then tell you again that they won’t pay for the cost to have it fixed properly with Nylund’s.

It’s so frustrating that we find out after paying insurance companies for years that they are just trying to screw us over if and when we ever file a claim - especially when not at fault.

Oh they already sent me a check without asking me!! After the adjuster came out to my house in the beginning. So I don't know what this round of "we have to look at it" is all about...

I'm also wondering why it went under my Collision policy and not Uninsured Motorist policy when it was a hit and run while my car was parked. I'll probably get my insurance agent involved pretty soon too, I haven't even spoken to her yet, just the national claims hotline number people. My house is also insured through State Farm and is likely to get swapped at renewal too, if she can't step in and do something in my favor (doubtful)

Yeah, they want you to cash the first check and then give up and not come back with supplemental estimates so they pay out less. The process from there will be a big headache.
Hold that check, don’t cash it, push back. Call your agent first thing in the morning, although they won’t be able to do much and will forward you to the “claims department”.

They put it under your collision to take be able to withhold the deductible from you.

I just remembered they did that to me and I should come knocking to get my $500 back.

We got out total loss check last week and lucked out and picked up a replacement on Monday.
