Shit show is starting between shop and insurance. Had 4 calls between the two the other day. Shop saying this is how State Farm always does thing, and State Farm specialist complaining "thats not how it's supposed to be done but ok I'll schedule an inspector to come out." That was Wednesday, inspector was supposed to come out yesterday to approve tear down so they can look for further damage. Haven't heard anything since.

Got the supplemental quote, still just under $15k, which is surprising since the other estimate from the State Farm shop was a little over $15k. BUT, the major thing that I was concerned about, did get added to the new quote. Which is to do a Frame Measurement. Hopefully I get some new details in the next couple of weeks.

Ok, that was just the State Farm "approved estimates". I just got off the phone with insurance and they said that Nylund's was at like $28k so far...I'll call the shop tomorrow and see what's up. I did make sure that State Farm isn't closing the case. If there's any frame repairs that need to be done. But a $14k difference so far isn't gonna be doable on my part. Hopefully Nylund's work their magic. Finger's cossed

Yeah, that would suck to be on the hook for $14k out of pocket.

I really hope they get A LOT closer in prices between the two. Nylund's made it clear that I'd be on the hook for any work already done, if I chose to bring it home in the end. And that's really not a route I want to go down. I just want out of this truck with as little of my own money as possible.

Sent an email off to my insurance agent asking her to step in and help, that I'm at risk of moving my Home and Two vehicles off of State Farm policy if they can't get me a good outcome. Like they're punishing me for not doing anything wrong. FUCK, someone hit MY car while it was PARKED...

Spoke with Nylunds. They said they just received the State Farm approval estimate yesterday. John has to look over everything again and will call me back to let me know what the next steps are.

I emailed my insurance agent and they said they have no sway over the claims department. Asked me to talk with the specialist and explain the situation with Non-OEM parts not being available. Said I've already done that multiple time with no success.

    I HATE THIS

Yeah same experience I had with my State Farm agent. Claims is a faceless group in Kansas or something that just looks at numbers.

take a breather, stay calm. Sorry it’s sucks so much, but it will be done soon.

Thanks, I'm trying to. I'm just getting closer and closer to not having a job at the end of September (department getting layed off) so my stress levels are rising...

    This venting helps though

Had a long call with the shop. Basically now I have to go back to insurance and say, YOU tell me which shop can fix it and tow it there. Especially since the previous state farm shop said parts weren't available. And then tell them Nylunds will be doing a post repair inspection (free). And they said insurance WILL pay for the current shop fees and towing and storage

He also said that the same parts were unavailable in OEM form as the non OEM parts.

Said I have a good "bad faith" case building.

Will update again tomorrow after talking with State Farm

    SOB...

So spoke with both Insurance and Shop today.

Basically now I have to find another shop to have the truck towed to. I have a lot of calling to do on Tuesday. Will have to be a State Farm preferred shop, and one of their Select Shops. I have to make sure that it actually has a frame rack big enough to measure the Tundra. Nylunds said the bed was definitely twisted, and they told the inspector that, but insurance still only wrote it up to replace the one side. And then Nylunds will do a free after repair inspection for me. They told me to make sure I'm telling the new shop this.

I do have an appointment still with one of their shops I made last month, but that's not until September!

Two of the parts needed are on "backorder with no eta". One of those parts is the corner of the cab, preventing the rear door from opening. So there's already 100% chance of more parts being damaged beneath that simply cannot be checked atm.

State Farm just isn't giving me any good options here.

I'm pretty much at the claims value that I can buy a whole other tundra with front end passenger side damage and replace everything over myself...

Shit this 2021 Tundra SR5 is only $18k, and my claim is sitting at $14k right now. https://www.ebay.com/itm/175744405958

Ugh, this all just sucks so much. I'm sorry you're having to go through all this. I thought my repair on my LC was annoying, this might top it. Sorry bro.

I fucking hate insurance. Scum of the Earth.

Makes me want to get two free windshields and then take my business elsewhere from State Farm.

Called around a lot this morning. Got up to around 21 shops on State Farm list so far, and only two of them have frame racks big enough for the Tundra in the denver area. One I already have a pending appointment with...Sept 26th. The other requested me email the quote and photo before they'll let me know a schedule date. Awaiting reply.

Then I gotta speak with State Farm again, and likely escalate it to the supervisor. Because the specialist said HE WILL NOT PAY FOR ANYTHING DONE AT NYLUNDS. Like wtf?! They better pay for storage and the estimate!

btw, the two shops are Prime Time Auto for September, and waiting on West CarStar. made sure they both have a big enough frame rack, and are accepting major damaged vehicles.

Carstar West said they also cannot take on that large of a job.

They referred me to Corridor Collision out in Bennet CO. She said she already spoke with them and forwarded my info over, so that was awesome of them! Got busy signal when I called. Will call back later to see

Email sent to Nylund's, where my truck is currently located and to State Farm

    Hi State Farm,
I've have spent the day calling other shops. 99% of the shops in State Farm network are turning away the job due to the size and conditions of the repairs based off of the State Farm Approved Estimates. Only one of the shops out of the 25 so far even has a frame rack large enough to fit the Tundra. That is Prime Time Auto. And my appointment with them was made almost two months ago, and still isn't until September 26th.
Can you please pay to have my vehicle released from Nylund's and towed to my house, where I will have to wait another 4 months to have my vehicle looked at.
    Thanks

Received call from insurance at end of the day. Let it go to voicemail and emailed my reply.

    Hi,
I received the message that State Farm will not pay for any of the costs Nylunds has for storage nor the estimate. I'll speak with Nylund's about those charges tomorrow. However, the truck was dropped off there before I was told that State Farm wouldn't pay for any of said storage...
I'm also concerned that the only other shop that will even accept my truck, and is even able to work on the truck, Prime Time Autobody, who is number one on State Farm's preferred list, stated that they also only use OEM parts for repair. So now I'm being asked to bear the burden of storing a truck for another 4 months, at a residence in a city that has ordinances about storing wrecked vehicles in front of my house. And on top of that, it's going to a State Farm shop that also says they use OEM parts.
I feel like the least State Farm can do is pay Nylund's for the fare work they've done. Because now I KNOW every single shop I've called outside of State Farm uses OEM parts. They will all have the same quotes. Because none of the cheap place will even accept my vehicle to repair!
This is basically forcing me to use State Farm preferred network, and waiting around for them.
    Thanks,
