Was a real brainiac yesterday and backed into a post, so got a pretty good crease in my bumper. Any thoughts between getting it PDR'd, or just ordering a new bumper cover (approx $600 with matching paint). Don't think I'll go aftermarket steel, as it would be a bit strange to just have the rear end done.

Unless anyone has a OEM spruce mica bumper?

    This...

its a truck, it will get a scratch or a dent at some point. If you want, bang it out from the backside with a hammer... but id leave it (and im anal about my truck)

If you're looking at a new bumper, first try and bang the crease out. PDR may not be able to do much with that if there is a heavy crease in the bumper (hard to tell in the picture).

Ya it's more of an anal thing. 18 months in, and finally did something of consequence to it

I have thought about a good answer for a minute now and I think I have a "this is what I would do."

I'd leave it or I would take a hammer myself and try and lessen it. I wouldn't pay for it to be repaired.

Two things.. those bumpers are shockingly flimsy. The metal is thin, and it wouldn't be too hard to lessen that dent.

Second, it's a rear bumper. It's bound to be dented by someone else at some point, let their insurance pay for a new one and then it doesn't cost you a dime.

In that case I would probably try and smooth it out first and thennnnnn say "I fixed it some.." If it looks better or good enough then she may be find leaving it.

Unless you want to spend money on a repair or replacement. Then go nuts.

I'd just be bummed if you spent, say, $200 to straighten it and 3 months from now someone taps you in the parking lot or at an intersection and the dent is there again. You get a free repair then, but still $200 down the hole for a 3 month dent free bumper.

PDR won't be able to do much with that. Leave it or you can beat it out, sand it, fill it and put on some Duplicolor to make it close. Or you could sand it, fill it and bedliner the whole bumper (what I did with the dents on my chrome bumper).

I got a steel one when I got rear-ended. Of course the other guy's insurance was paying for it.

    Nice. What did you get?
I backed into an uninsured stump during an off-road trip.

Don't wish too hard.. traditionally Tacoma's don't fair too well after being rear ended. Several people with pretty new trucks (year old.. 2 year old.. and newer) who get rear ended at 25/30 MPH and got totaled.

You want more of a tap in a drive thru lane or something.. haha.

AllPro steel rear high clearance bumper. I coated it with spray on bed liner and had a body shop install it and still saved $50 over the price of getting a new OEM rear bumper. :)
