You will probably not like the stock behavior then, especially the dead skinny pedal tip-in... it makes getting the correct amount of throttle at the clutch "catch point" a shitshow at times (especially on inclines). I wouldn't trade my MT for an Auto any day, but it could certainly be better.

Mine will be arriving Monday as will, thanks for the fast shipping. Was wanting a Tacoma for 9 months while I was overseas and when I finally got it I was pretty damn dissapointed in the throttle response and the truck feeling like it's always driving with the E-brake on. It should get here Monday and I'm gonna install it after work, will be posting an honest review of it afterwards, fingers crossed that this is the key to fixing it because Toyotas update sure didn't do shit and I'm sick of having to hit the ECT every time I hop in and drive

Very interested in how this turns out!

It's one thing to modify the TPS input, but i'm not quite sure how the firmware in THIS particular ECU will respond. We're fighting against this ETCS-i horseshit as well -

Notice the built in lag in both throttle valve opening angle and timing

thanx for giving us an honest review, I am a little skeptical about some of these claims of 4 mpg increases this is the usual bait em in tactic that's been going with some of products on the market like Splitfirespark plugs,Tornado gas saver, performance chips etc. all backed up by scientific evidence but in the end are all hoaxs, this one is a $300 one. also the Rep guy LaSorte says you get a 2 week money back return, but the AMAZON ad says you get a 30 day complete 100% money back guarantee, something stinks in Denmark o_O

Is the one on Amazon sold by a different seller maybe?

Can you still get the $40 discount if going through amazon and not
    their site?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O82ZD62 its sold by Vitalen inc. don't know if its the same the dude that posted here for the $40 TW rebate says he is a manager for Pedal commander I don't know if they are one in the same. I would wait for some reviews before getting it about 6-7 people are getting one hopefully they give an unbiased review of it.

Here's a better look at these things:

    http://www.crosslake.net/~dbipes/sprintbooster/SprintBooster.pdf

The only downside to the paper linked above is that I'd like to see rpm logged as well. This paper just compares pedal position to the TPS sensor.

There's no doubt that these devices can change how the pedal feels to the driver. In the end, that's all I care about. It won't make more power, it won't make your truck faster. The eco mode might save you some fuel because reducing the amount of throttle you apply will often save fuel. But it's not making your engine more efficient, it's making you a less aggressive driver :) I view this as a user interface tweak as it changes the way you interact with the vehicle. If it make the pedal feel better to me as a driver, then it's worth it in my opinion... kind of like changing out the twist throttle on a motorcycle for different size pulleys, you change how the throttle "feels" to you. Maybe that change is an improvement, maybe not.

What Im both skeptical and hopeful on is if it can shorten the delay when both applying and releasing the throttle. If it can, then it must be tricking the ECU into applying a different throttle or timing curve. If it is indeed doing something like that, then it means the ECU is measuring not just absolute pedal position, but rate of change as well.

    We'll see next week.

this thing just tricks the TPS sensor, if you push the throttle 50% it tells the ECU you have pushed the pedal 75%, the ECO mode is the reverse you push the pedal 50% it tells the ECU you've pushed it 25% and you will feel 25% engine response, all this can be accomplished by just pushing the gas pedal more(sprint mode) or less (ECO mode)

Correct. But it's entirely possible that the ECU is also measuring rate of change from the pedal sensor. I'm not saying this is what it does as I have no idea what the ECU is doing, but it's possible and even likely. So the ECU can derive two pieces of information from the pedal sensor: absolute position (50%, 75%, etc.) and rate of change. The magic pedal box will affect both. The absolute pedal position affect will be similar to merely pressing the pedal further. But it does have the ability to affect rate of change in a way that you can't replicate with your foot. For instance, when pressing the pedal, no matter how fast, you have to pass through all the values from zero to full throttle. The ECU sees this. But the magic box can be programmed to go from 0% to 50% let's say without any intermediate values. That's an instantaneous rate of change from zero to 50. The ECU also sees this and it's not out of the question that the ECU will respond differently to that. That's what I mean by tricking the ECU. I agree that it's not communicating with the ECU in any way other than the pedal position signal. But it is technically possible for it to be doing something that can't be replicated with your foot.

so in essence it gives a false or better gas pedal feel than what it came from the factory with, depending on what setting you have on the box. I would assume that the ECO setting would feel bogged down because if you have %50 real pedal pressure it sends the ECU 25% therefore using less gas. I guess if your not happy with the lag in acceleration then this is ok gadget, but from an economy ECO standpoint it would feel very slow and really lagging in acceleration.
