Alright guys, I got my Pedal Commander in today and installed it in less than 5 minutes. The hardest part was removing the outer plug cover on the gas pedal prior to unplugging it. I swear this thing is like driving a different truck. I drove it around town for a bit in City mode and adjusted the sensitivity to +2 for now. Just a light feather touch to the accelerator and you're moving. Shifts seem to be a bit more smooth too. I might play around with the sensitivity a little more but overall I give this thing 5 stars! If you're on the fence, jump off of it and get it.

I'd like to hear some input on these vs the sprint booster.

Coming from a first gen with an actual throttle cable the lag on my second gen has always bothered me. I've been on the fence for quite a while though regarding this. I see used ones for sale on instagram all the time. Makes me wonder why. So is the lag really gone???

Yes the lag is gone. I can't believe how much if a difference it makes in the response and sensitivity of the pedal. It doesn't increase HP at all but it gives the perception of more power because of the faster response.

Might be a couple hundred bucks well spent. More than I can say about some of the other things I've seen on this site. Lol!!

Dude I seriously doubt you would regret buying it! Probably the most significant "seat of the pants" change next to a supercharger.

I have the Sprint Booster on my 5th Gen 4Runner. It made a huge difference in pedal response! I bought one for my dad's 2012 GMC Terrain as well and he loves it. It always had terrible throttle response but now it drives like a mean go-cart on steroids. Lol

Sprint Booster was the first with the technology and Pedal Commander copied. I like the simplicity of the Sprint Booster and the controls. I've heard good things with Pedal Commander as well.

You can push the pedal a little harder for free. 'Cause that's really what is happening, a digital change of pedal to throttle ratio.

But if it makes folks happy, good for the seller!

It isn't going to give any additional horsepower but it makes a difference in lag time. The 4Runner is sluggish when you stomp on the pedal to gas it to get up speed on a freeway. There is a pretty significant delay. I noticed the improvement there instantly.

Pedal commander made a huge difference on the way my 3rd gen drives. It had terrible lag before and I had to push the pedal so far that most of the time it would double downshift. It helps a lot. Anyone who hasn't tried it doesn't know. It's not the same as pushing the pedal harder

Mine has it pretty bad. Can't compare it to other Tacomas, but it's noticeably worse than most other vehicles i've driven over the years. The PC makes it so much better.

So from what I can tell this is like getting a cammed throttle tube for a motor cycle? (you can either increase or decrease throttle sensitivity) It essentially changes the throttle input at a given point in the stroke right?

Many on TW have known this for years. Of course, If I just dropped 3 benjamins on anything that was "the most significant "seat of the pants" change next to a supercharger", LOL, :bananadance:I'd be promoting it as well.

The only thing these things do (spirit booster/pedal commander do) is simply simulate you pushing on the gas pedal further than you are.... Hate to break it to you that is it.

If that's all it is, then I guess I paid $300 for a more enjoyable driving experience. My throttle response sucked before this, and if pressing the pedal further halfway to the floor in order to get it going is ok for you, then so be it. I prefer snappy over mushy.

They seem kind of pointless in a manual trans I would imagine?

I don't have noticeable throttle lag in my truck under normal driving at all but then again I have a much more direct and open intake.

I have considered do the pedal angle mod which tilts the bottom of the pedal up a bit giving a fuller travel, allows you to "bottom out" the pedal stroke without standing on it pushing the pedal into the carpet and makes heel-toeing a little easier.

Only time I noticed any throttle lag is when heel-toeing as it kind of freaks the computer out as it confirms you really do want throttle when actually on the brake as well and then it's only a half second at worst.

Factory intake routing is awful, upgraded to a FJ cruiser airbox.

The only thing I can really compare it to is our jetski (SeaDoo GTX). In normal touring or cruising mode, it will only allow the jetski to accelerate so fast before reaching top speed. Great for casual rides around the lake, maybe carrying a little one on board. Switch it to "Sport Mode" and the front end of that thing will start coming out of the water if you're not holding on. Just a much quicker throttle response and acceleration, even though the horsepower is the same.

Not true...I have a 4 cylinder/5 speed and the PC made a huge difference in response (HATERS - it's volume vs. time!). Feels much "peppier" and I don't have to downshift as much.
