My impression is these trucks aren't really choked on either end, and would be getting something I can manipulate myself. So, really a tune/tuner is all I see in the cards...

my truck is supercharger so the Y and headers are def a limiter for me. I have heard others note that a good tune with headed and a good equal length Y are some good mods.

So the drunker I get, the more I consider buying this thing just for fun, with reasonable expectations of what it does. $250 is not pocket change for me but I’ve always hated drive by wire. So maybe worth a shot and if I buy it on Amazon I imagine I could return it if it doesn’t work as long as I do the return right away.

main concern is: anyone had problems with it throwing a CEL or otherwise messing with the ecu other electronics? That is not something I’d like to mess with at all.

Seeing as OP is a Police officer, and I am a public defender, I would like to provide a comparative review in this thread with my truck 6 MT. All in good fun of course.

Only if none of the evidence brought forward is suppressed. LOL. In all seriousness though, I really don't think you would be disappointed in the PC. It has a pretty overwhelmingly positive following by those who have actually tried it. Like you said, keep all of the packaging (which it comes in a well-packaged container) and return it if it doesn't suit you well. Would I rather have a tune done, yes, but this is the next best thing in my opinion. It won't solve all of the shifting and hunting gear issues, nor will it give you more horsepower, but it does give you more "perceived" power due to the immediate response you get at the pedal. I do think the shifts are a little smoother too, but that could of course be placebo too. As far as electronics issues, I have had none. As long as you follow the instructions by unlocking the truck and then keeping your key fob inside the house away from it prior to installing, as well as only changing the settings on the PC while not accelerating or in drive preferably, then you should be good to go.

Shifts are only changed by a simple fact that the ECU is seeing you push down the gas pedal more than before which will raise shift points.

Again, literally the only thing the pedal commander is doing is changing how much the throttle pedal is reporting its being pushed down.

For 200 bucks more, you can get an MPVI2 and 4 HP tuner credits and ACUTALLY change how the throttle pedal mapping is and change shift points etc etc etc. OR you could hitup @JustDSM and send out your ecu to get flashed for 4 credits and his tune fee (which is minimal), i believe it would end up being around the same price as the pedal commander....

I'll keep that in mind. I would love to squeeze out some more horses from this 4.0L

Love my PC on my 2019 Off Road. It’s fun to smoke other trucks off the line at the light. Nobody expects it. One funny thing: I had it on “Sport 4“ and squeeled my tires while parallel parking. Looked like a moron. I usually run it on “City 3”- that’s plenty of giddyup

I’m working on getting this as my Xmas gift lol. I ordered her $900 4.56 gearing for her JLU so I think this is a fair request.

There is a real continuity regarding the negative reviews of this product. I don’t know how many times I’ve read ‘ check engine light on and this, that and the other not working ‘

    Just some stuff...
Well that explains a lot. I always assumed people just broke down and spent the money on an actual tune. Maybe it's a commitment issue: If I don't like it I can just disconnect it in a matter of minutes. Haha!

Well, I was really interested in getting it. The overwhelming majority of reviews are really positive but if you’re that 1 out of 20 people whose truck it basically disables from operating, no thanks.

I've seen many posts and all on the Pedal Commander throughout here and pages I follow on Facebook. Still really haven't came across a solid use of ECO mode haha. Curious if it has good mpg increase for regular city driving and if it'll benefit when you're on long highway trips going 70mph+

Again, all the pedal comander does it change how the ecu thinks you are pushing the gas pedal down or not. So in eco mode its doing the opposite of sport, that is, making you have to push the pedal down further to achieve the same amount of input to the ecu. About the ONLY thing this is going to help you with is softening up the pedal when in 4lo doing technical crawling.

Its not going to net you MPGs.

Where's the data showing the PC did nothing? All I see is data for stock with an opinion tagged on as proof. That's not the way disproving something works. It has to be shown that it doesn't work with actual data.

A couple weeks ago my truck beat a very late model stock Tundra V8, the only thing I've changed is adding 37" tires and a PC, all supposedly by my PC mashing the gas pedal the same as my foot can.

Proof is showing that there is no lag of the stock setup. And that a power Commander will make no difference. Thus no extra speed/power etc.

Proof is understanding the simple analog circuit that is the gas pedal itself and how you can't do more than simulate a different output for a given input.
