Just bought a new 21 TRD OR and was looking at the Pedal Commander. Does anyone out there use one of these? Are they worth it? It would be nice to have a faster responding pedal. Thanks for the input.

I have a Spring Booster for my Cayman, and it's awesome! I'm getting one for my 17 Manual TRD Sport for sure.

Also have a sprint booster in my 2017, and definitely recommend. Lots of features including valet mode and gas pedal lockout. Plus it has a small footprint.

One of the TW members has OV tune and still uses one of these. I bet that’s a fun ride.

Yep, quite a few actually. There are lot online reviews with the same issue and i know a dude with a 3rd gen personally that got a CEL due to the PC. He romoved it, and all good now. I would just pay a bit more and get OV.

I'm curious about Sprint Booster vs Pedal Commander. Or any other similar options.

And I'll never do OV Tune due to their ridiculous disclaimer.

The disclamer is interesting yes. But dont all tuners have similar disclamers? They obviously dont want to be responsible if you fuck something up, or something goes wrong.

There are around 500? Tacos running OV without any issues, or we would definetily be hearing about them:rolleyes:

Thanks for the reply. My only concern with the OV Tune is that it will void my factory warranty. Has anyone had issues with the Sprint Booster as they have with the PC? Thanks

OVTune won't void your warranty because they can't see that you have it flashed. But if the dealer catches you with pedal commander if you bring it in with an issue...

Warranties on a vehicle can't be "void" for a single vehicle, as you put it. Warranty claims can be denied for a single vehicle because of modifications if they are related or can be argued to have possibly caused or contributed to the cause of a problem. Aftermarket tuning, by any source, will have the same consequence as far as Toyota is concerned. The OV software only provides a tool to change the values of the Toyota factory tune, it's not like you are replacing the operating system of the ECU with another. The changes that OV is capable of making are much the same as what a Toyota engineer could do with the Toyota (Denso) programming software. Also, things like the pedal commander and boost modify the signal between the pedal and the ECU, simply put. That will be just as much if a risk, if not more, than just changing those values in the ECU itself. Introducing electrical circuitry and modifying the signal that the ECU isn't programmed for or "expecting" seems like more if a risk to me. Especially when your consider things like traction control, VSC, etc all using accel pedal/throttle plate info to correct for unsafe conditions.

Is this true? I figured flashing a new calibration would change a counter or checksum value of some sort.

Its impossible for dealer to detect the tune. When they plug into the OBD and if you are tuned, it will just say the stock calibration ID.

The only thing they will be able to tell is when was the last time the DTCs were cleared. But if you disconnect the battery, DTCs get cleared.

Nope, not on toyotas. I heard something like that with fords or GMs, since so many guys were tuning them.

VW does the same, marks logs with code everytime ecu flashed back to stock. I'm surprised Toyota does not have a similar tag

A ton of guys on my Porsche forum have the Sprint Booster over years of use, no issues...

My son runs the pedal commander because it's blue tooth capabilities, I use the Sprint booster because of the size and you can unplug it once it's set.

I have only have been using Pedal Commander since Labor Day and I am impressed. The instructions says to shift between modes when the vehicle is in park. I follow the directions and have not had any issues.
