I just sold mine, only because I got the KDMax tune. The pedal commander worked good while I had it

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Get a tune, you'll be happier.

I hear all of you but I don’t drive the truck that much so it’s hard to justify the money for a tune. My 2017 only has 20k on it.

I had a pedal commander on my last several vehicles. 4Runner, JKUR, JLUR. They work great for accelerator pedal input. This time around it wasn't just the pedal input I didn't care for but the gear hunting was laughable. I went with the KDmax Pro tune. Not only was the pedal input "fixed", but the gear hunting has been eliminated. Now for the horsepower gain, claimed +20 on 87 and +30 on 92, it "feels" like that happened with the neck and butt dyno, but I have no way to confirm. By far, leaps and bounds superior to a Pedal Commander and that's saying something considering I ran one on a bunch of my last vehicles. Even though you don't drive much, save the extra beans over time and go with the tune.

You're basically talking about $100 difference between the PC and a tune.

I have both the KDMax tune and still have my Pedal Commander on. I do use it occasionally on the highway, the KDMax tune is amazing but a little bit more helps.

I have read mixed reports on the KDMax and KDMAX Pro regarding MPG.

Do you guys have any realworld MPG numbers for before and after these tunes?

I can tell you from my personal experience that my MPG has probably gone up 1-2 MPG since flashing my KDMax Pro+XT several months ago. That said, I don't think any reputable tuner would guarantee an MPG improvement post tune, regardless of whose it is. There are just too many variables, not the least of which being how the truck is driven.

I agree, since getting the KDMAX + tune my MPG has improved around 1-2 on average. I do not know if that is the most beneficial part. On the highway it is not the perfect answer. Around town though, I see a huge improvement in less throttle lag and better driving experience.

I do not think there is on magic answer for a Tacoma to be perfect. I know many people with Tunes, Throttle controllers like a PC and even re-gears. I believe it all depends on the driver and their load.

Then by your logic don’t get either, cause you barely drive the truck.

I honestly never understood the point of the PC. Why would I buy a box that changes up the throttle input when I can do the same thing by moving my foot, for free?

My experience after a couple of months with KDMax tune has been a decrease in mileage of about 2mpg. My daily commute is very consistent highway and light traffic but the truck drives better!

Had one before I knew better. It does what it does. Accelerator manipulation only.
Tunes are far better for only slightly less money.

Pro XT tune and I average about 19 with 265/70/17 ATs. Thats where it stays and if I run it hard showing off my tune and exhaust to anyone it dips to about 16 or 17.

There are a couple of Nevada authorized tuners. One in Vegas and one near Reno. Their contact info is on the map listed above.

I have a 2.7 so no tune available. I got the Pedal Commander a week after getting the truck and it made a tremendous difference

At 7000 miles, one day I decided to turn it off and now I don't even feel the need for it since the engine has broken in some

My motorcycles have switchable throttle maps, and I like that ability. My personal opinion is not pro tune. If Toyota could have tuned in more mpg, and hp, and reliabilty, they would have. I know that is controversial. However, I want ultimate relaibility, especially at the cost of trucks these days, and I am not convinced that tunes will retain reliability. A pedal commander type device enhances the accelerator feel much like sport or dynamic mode on my motorcycles. Sometimes that is enough, and maintains reliability. Just my opinion.
