Hello- I was wondering if anyone out there can share some thoughts on the Pedal Commander? I have a new 2023 Limited. Would it void my warranty? Does it make a huge difference in lag? Any issues to speak of? Thanks.

I recently got a Pedal Commander for free, it definitely makes it “feel” better but after running it for two days I took it out. Mine randomly set a code and put it in limp mode. I wanted to like it but I can’t trust it after that. Supposedly the Banks one doesn’t put it in limp mode if it does something funny but honestly I wouldn’t spend money on either one. Just push the pedal more, it’s free, or use ECT mode.

I have one and it has not sent my taco into limp mode.
I have one and absolutley love it, I keep it anywhere between City+4 to sport+4.

Tune it. If you’re going to get a box, don’t get the PC

I have a 22 trd pro, didn’t like the pedal commander at all. Sport+ was too sensitive and eco mode makes your truck seems like some stuck a sock in your throttle. City mode is almost like stock response and I lose mpg.

Good info, but I didnt have to glue it to my dash. I went on ETSY and purchased a 3d printed driverside pannel.

Get a tune, OTT. Which actually does something good for truck, besides just changing pedal sensitivity.

I've had one for years and love it. Had it in my 2018, kept it for my 2021 and now the same one is in my new 2023. I hear all the "push the pedal harder" blah, still love mine. Never an issue with it in any of the trucks I've installed it in. And - I don't know, I just don't like Banks attitude and using reverse - I don't even know what hes talking about. I also have the Shift Sense Pro and love that. The combo of the 2 makes for a completely different truck. I am sure a "tune" does wonders also - this is the route I chose.

OP, have you tried just driving with the ECT on? And concerning your "would it void my warranty" question. I guess the answer is probably not but then again maybe.

If you started having engine issues and took it to the dealer with the PC still installed, they could certainly try to use it as ammunition to deny a warranty claim.

Thanks all for the input. Does anyone know if the OTT affects the truck warranty?

I have Banks stuff on my full size Duramax truck... What they do is if their product fails, it reverts back to the stock settings from the vehicle, and not put it into a position where your vehicle is disabled. When you put the truck in reverse, it goes to completely stock, so you dont have a super sensitive pedal, and crash into something going in reverse. Gale knows his stuff, and extensively tests it, then beta tests it with superusers in the real world, before releasing to the public. Sometimes it is slow and painful to get stuff they promise us but, in the end, it is worth the wait. Ski

I have the Banks version, and really like it. It gets power from the OBDII port under the dash, instead of the power on the accelerator pedal, so it won't throw a code. I pull it out before I take it in to the dealer, and it goes back to stock. Only takes a minute or two to take it out, or put it in. I wanted a tune, but was worried about warranty work being denied in the future and didn't want to take the risk.

Jay from Banks here. Happy to clear up any confusion about Reverse Safety. I'm not familiar with Shift Sense Pro. I just ordered one to see how it works. Most people use Pedal Commander as they're the most popular brand of throttle response controllers. Banks PedalMonster was created in response to Pedal Commander causing check engine lights. According to two former Pedal Commander employees who have interviewed for jobs here, they've had to purchase garage doors for guys who have backed through them because their vehicles' throttle is just as sensitive in forward as they are in reverse. Like your Shift Sense, PedalMonster is on OBD. This allows our module to sense gear position. When you shift into Reverse, PedalMonster returns you to stock throttle response. We also don't cause limp mode like Pedal Commander because we don't leech power from the 5v pedal reference circuit. I know you're not interested in one of our devices. I just felt it was worth responding for those who may read this thread and benefit from the explanation.

    I use it.
    I like it.
It's not equivalent to "pressing the pedal harder"

Thanks for the info! If I hadn’t bought a pedal commander already I definitely would’ve considered the pedal monster.

That being said I haven’t had any issues with the pedal commander since I installed it over 6 months ago.

I purchased and installed the Banks Pedal Monster a few months ago. I found the improved throttle response to make my truck much more fun to drive (I use the city mode set at the fifth position). I’ve had my truck for a little over 2 years and just got my best mpg since I’ve owned it (21.1).

I was initially a little disappointed with Banks however. The reverse safety setting does not work on my truck. When I called customer service they said it did work on earlier model years, but that they will have to do an update to make it work for newer models (mine is a 22). I decided to keep the unit and I’m still happy with it (but I would like to see that update someday soon).
