I would take that truck back and complain if i had any scratches from a repair they did. As a tech at a dealer, it is one of my top priorities to make sure that my quality of my work is top notch. Especially doing any interior work, if i were to scratch or damage anything on a customers vehicle it would be fixed before they left. The vehicle is always returned in the same condition if not better than when they dropped it off.

But, still glad they did the right thing and replaced the dash instead of fixing it.

I was thinking about taking it back but didn't want to seem overly picky...But you're right, I should take it back.
I was disappointed in the scuff marks and fingerprints on the windshield but just noticed the scratches this morning.

To be honest, i hate picky customers, but you gotta figure, we pay a shit ton of money for our trucks, we at the dealer have a responsiblity to do things right, thats why we are paid what we are paid. I wouldnt even hesitate to take it back, show them everything and make sure they fix it and clean it so it's right.

Here locally there are at least 7 or more members that only let me work on their trucks. Sometimes i wish i was in a smart car forum or something, these trucks get heavy after a while. :D

Good to hear they replaced the dash instead of "fixing" it. However, if they did leave a few scratches and scuff marks take it back again and again until they get it right. There's no way you should get your truck back in worse condition than when you left it.

On a side note, I know a few of the techs by first name at our local Toyota dealer and I think it helps with the overall service I receive. Almost makes me want to get an extended warranty from them. ;)

I didn't know the dashes were painted either weird. I have a 12/11 2012 model and dash looks fine, but I'm not really driving it much and haven't cleaned the dash with anything.

Definitely tell them before the 7 days. You wanna see my door because of these MORONS? Go over with a fine tooth comb, I have sanding marks into my paint.

I'm having the same problem now with my dash. My truck a 2011 and it is starting to peel in a couple spots by the cluster where there is no vent. I'll be going to the dealer next week about it.

I hope the best for you guys. I'm new to the forum, but it's kinda weird how some trucks have this problem or that problem, some don't. Some have another problem, some don't. Someone must have been drunk on build day with some of these trucks.

I went from Armor All to the STP SOS product long ago, seems better.

^^Yeah I've heard a few people say that Armor All is actually bad for your dash becuase it'll dry it up but I've never had an issue with it. Of course there is no way armor all did this to my dash in less than a year but I do think I'll be switching to something else just to make sure.

Thought about just asking for money...to make you whole again? I would then buy a roll of nice black thin pebble leather. You or a upholster, pop out the dash pieces [parts], cover the whole dash parts in black leather. Seen this treatment done on a dash before, covers up the hard cheap plastic, looks factory. Say goodby to future peeling. Added plus, truck smells like a leather interior.... Good luck.

That's what I figured he meant, and LOL'd when I read it. There is no way in hell Toyota would give out money instead of repairing a problem.

I have a 2012 i purchased in november of last year. I noticed the same issue of the dash paint peeling near the vents for the front windshield. I decided to get mine fixed by toyota since it is under warranty. It is currently at toyota. Hope all goes well!
