Peeling Film From Rear Rocker Panel

Hi - I finally bought a Tacoma (been wanting one for years). I bought a '07 DC SR5 with long bed in SSM. The truck is mint except for one spot. The protective film (not the film under the paint but on top of the paint) on the rear rocker panel area right in front of the rear fender is peeling at the top. Of course, dirt is adhering to the exposed stickiness and now it looks as though there is one long scratch. A few questions:

Is this protective film OEM or aftermarket? I never noticed until now.

Can/Should I remove it?

If I can remove it should I replace it and with what?

Who at the dealership should I call? I called the service dept and the guy had no clue what I was talking about (which is why I ask if this is OEM).
