My 2008 Tacoma has some paint peeling issues on the front end ( below the grill), and I'm looking for some ideas for what I should do about it. My truck is white, but I'm considering stripping down the affected area and painting it black. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem, and some ideas on what my options are. Pics would be appreciated.

Just for clarification, the area that is peeling is on the lower portion of the front bumper. I can't post pics right now but I will be able to later, when I get home from work.

Do you mean a full repaint or just black front area out.?

Just the middle section of the front bumper. I just watched a video of a guy Plasti-Dipping that section on his Tacoma that looked identical to mine and I liked the way it turned out. Any opinions on Plasti-Dip?

Yep. I heard There's a white that matches nice. I am 1e7 silver and I used aluminum plastidip and it matched better than the actual 1e7 spray can mixed at a local shop.
I have had my front grill stock wheels and rear bumper dipped for well over a year. I use glossifier or plastidip topcoat on top of plastidip for durability. Then use dip coat as a "wax" few times a year. My truck is by can.
My wife got me the dipsprayer =) and I used that to spray hood roof and trunk lid all plastidip color changing purple and that has lasted well over a year also.. through snow and salt.. she hardly ever washes as pictures show:annoyed:

@ChemDawg , was your paint peeling, and was there any prep work for the front of your truck? It looks great! It's amazing that it matched that well! Don't be offended, but what made you Plasti-Dip the wife's car? Just curious.

No offense taken haha..no my paint was not peeling. It was crome. My wife's car was not covered under the recall for peeling paint.
Toyota insisted to do my frame ect..before i even knew of any problems.Honda would not go good on the thin crappy paint job they did to her civic ex coupe.:frusty: Prep work. I would make sure surface is smooth, no bubbles ect..because you can get plastidip to self level by coating thick, but it will not be thick enough in the end to cover all imperfections.
The only other advice is if you sand down to bare metal make sure to paint with real paint primer because frost will make plastidip bubble on bare metal freezing temperatures.

@ChemDawg, thanks! That's the kind of input I'm looking for. My paint is bubbled a considerable amount so I'm thinking that I will need to sand it down before Plasti-Dipping. I'm hoping it turns out as well as yours.

Just make sure to prime if down to bare metal
But Yea I'm sure it will. That stuff is super user friendly.
