Bought a used one, but it's not bent. Having problems installing on my 2015 OR.

Started out trying to hand hold it but the studs don't clear the skid. Figured that might be due to the tank being 2/3 to 3/4 full and possibly bulging. So I very loosely attached the front to the frame and put a jack in the center. That didn't work so I moved the jack to the rear. One stud came through the rear easily and I got a nut on it. Not much resistance to get the nut threaded so the stud is level with the nut.
Moved the jack next to the other rear stud. Here's the problem. The stud is only even with the skid, not enough to start threading the nut. Its under enough pressure I'm very concerned to crank on the jack anymore. Don't want to crush the tank, nor strip or break loose the stud.
Also the skid is bowed enough from front to back that the front studs aren't clearing (they haven't really at anytime) the slots in the skid. So I'd have to use the jack again for the front.
This just doesn't feel right. So I stopped.

Couldn't find any youtube installs for a Pelfreybilt.

Thanks for any help, or sympathy. I'm no mechanic and I've broke shit before with force.

I got a suggestion, and finally saw in another manufacturer's install that is is best to do with the least amount of gas in the tank. So Will try again when I've driven more.

I got mine new when they were still in business, it came with a paper that said “make sure tank is under 1/4 tank when installing”
My tank was almost empty, went on without problems

I can't get a nut on the rear tank strap bolt. All the others went on. Tightened them up and did some errands today hoping less gas would make it easier.

Tank is showing less than 1/4, I know when the light comes on I have 3 gallons left. So I I'm guessing I have 3-4 gallons left.

I loosened all the nuts and bolts to where I can shove the skid around by hand. If I push up on the corner without the nut I can get the bolt to drop level with the tank. Sticking a jack near the hole the bolt will drop below the skid but not enough threads showing to get the nut started. The skid has now contacted the tank and any more pressure lifts the tank and bolt. I've moved the jack to the back end of the skid, in between the bolts, and a couple other places to no avail.

As a last ditch effort I tried 2 jacks. One where the center of the tank is and one at the back end. Didn't work. So I am going with 3 out of the 4 tank strap studs. Yay! With the addition of the tongue that attaches to the frame in front I don't it will really matter, but sheesh! :annoyed:

Oh, as I backed out of the garage, the empty light came on, so 3 gallons of gas in the tank.
