This is a terrible statement. I'm sending my son to a Summer Camp this coming summer. It's very well acredited, I know people who have gone there and people who work there, all of which I would trust my son with.

By your logic if someone there decides to hurt him, It's my fault for not knowing it immediately.

Again, it is not known the extent of what JoePa knew or didn't know. He was told Sandusky was seen "fondling or doing something of a sexual nature to a young boy". The people he trusted to take care of the situation, the same people who have been arrested for perjury and suspected of a cover up, could have easily spun it into "we looked into it and found only inappropriate behavior, no wrong doing". Should he have accepted that? No. Does it make him a bad person for wanting to believe someone he knew for so long wasn't really a bad person, and other people did the right thing and made the right decisions? No.

Sandusky was not on his staff at the time or at any point afterwards. Get your facts straight. He retired 3 years before this was reported.

Completely and utterly false. He did was he was supposed to and reported it to his superiors. And his story lines up perfectly with McQueary's. Both considered credible witnesses by the grand jury and not charge with any crime.

I'm from PA, my brother went to PSU, I almost went there, I always thought of the school as a great university, great place to be, but after watching thousands of students rioting because of Joe Pa's removal is completely uncalled for. Leaving the scandal aside, he's done more to hurt their football program than promote it by hanging around so long. Now you have students supporting this assclown with all this?

It will take PSU atleast a generation to get their football program back on track, I guarantee they lose recruits and underclassmen this yr. Their reputation in the state will never be replaced, and a once proud institution will always be associated with this crime.

Gary Schultz, one of the two university officials Joe told was in charge of the police department. Sure would feel like telling the police to me.

To me McQueary should have been fired! Why didn't he go straight to the cops or the university president? Something as serious as what he witnessed.....I would bypass my boss and go straight to the police and or the university president.

This is the real question. Mcquery had the ultimate power to do something and fully knew what happened. If he is on the sidelines Saturday I will be embarrassed. Unfortunately the university cannot legally fire him, he needs to resign.

I think the University is doing the right thing for themselves at this point by terminating Paterno and Spanier. It is in the best interest of the school as a whole to distance themselves from anyone who may be involved, and let the legal system decide who is guilty and who is innocent. Especially when this situation is likely to stretch on for a few years. I hope that those who are guilty pay the appropriate price.

I am very surprised that Assistant coach McQueary has not been let go yet. If you use the argument that Paterno reported the incident to his superiors, but "didn't do enough", then McQueary, having witnessed the incident, certainly falls into that same category.

agreed on McQueary, I personally would have bypassed everyone at my work and gone straight to the Police, and not campus police either. This isn't someone stealing a laptop and taking it home, where you would go to a supervisor.

Agreed... McQueary is a coward for what he did. Although we seem to disagree about our stance on Joe Pa, I think what McQueary did (or didn't do) was 10x worse. He witnessed it first hand and ran away like a scared little school girl and his first thought was to be worried about his job. I hope he has nightmares about what he saw, aside from actually doing the deed, he's easily the first in line for being negligent.

I'm just now reading through the responses in this thread. It's obvious there are a lot of emotions running high on both sides, and this is obviously a very sensitive topic. There have been over-the-top, emotion-driven statements from folks on both sides of the argument in this thread.

I think we can all agree on the following:
Something horrible has happened. Something that should not have happened. We definitely do not know the full extent of this situation, both in how many more victims there are, and how many people could have had the power to stop this, internal to the university, within the Second Mile Foundation, and within the Pennsylvania legal system. This situation is likely to get much worse before it gets better, and us yelling at each other in here is not going to solve any problems.
