    This fine example is a 1993 Astro EXT (extended-body; wheelbase on "EXT" and "Shorty" Astros is the same; I believe 1993 was the last year for the "shorty"). This 1993 model has the mid-level CL trim, and is finished in Burnt Red Metallic with a gray cloth interior. It is FULLY LOADED, with just about every option except all-wheel drive, and had just 120K miles on the clock at the time the 2015 pictures were taken. This van has the venerable 4.3L V6 and the new-for-1993 electronically-controlled 4-speed automatic transmission. I chatted with the owner (this was at a local outdoor market, and I got permission to take all the pictures I wanted), and he told me this van has a factory locking rear differential (he went out of his way to seek out a van that DID NOT have all-wheel drive, as he believed it was just something else to break). This van has dual A/C (and rear/auxiliary heat as well), cruise, tilt, power windows, power door locks, and digital gauges, among other things. The best part...?

    The current owner of this Astro got it for just $350! The seller either got in a divorce or inherited it in a will, didn't want it, and just wanted it out of their driveway. They listed it on CL and that's where the present owner found it! Don't be fooled by the price. This van has the usual wear and tear that any vehicle more than twenty years old would have, but it is mechanically sound and totally safe to drive! I believe the owner told me that the A/C even still worked!

    To date, the only newer-than-1989 Astro/Safari I've seen that came from the factory without A/C!

    This one is a 1990...
