My dad's first (and so far only) MOPAR product that he's owned since I was born was a green 1992 Dodge Dakota LE supercab 2WD, with the 3.9L V6 and 5-speed manual transmission. He bought the truck brand new and only had it for about a year because he decided he wanted 4-wheel drive, and an SUV instead of a pickup truck; I have always had a soft spot for 1st Gen Dakotas, especially the 1992-1996 models, because my dad owned one. My dad had a green 1992 supercab, and he bought it at dealer that his younger brother did business with; Uncle Jeff is in the hubcap and wheel business, and he refinished wheels for this dealer (Keystone Dodge in Allentown, I believe), so he got my dad a deal. After driving my dad's he liked it so much that he special ordered his own 1993 Dakota regular cab that was even nicer than my dad's. My dad's was a "Super LE", which was the top trim, and my uncle's was a Sport. However, my uncle ordered pretty much every option you could get. My dad's had A/C, cruise control, tilt wheel, cassette player, etc. However, my dad's had crank windows and open rear differential, for starters...

My uncle's was a cheaper trim than my dad's, and it had the same drivetrain (3.9L/5-speed), but it had all my dad's options and more. He got power windows, power locks, and a positraction rear axle. My uncle's truck looked like the one in the pictures below, but it was black with a gray interior. My uncle only had the truck for a year, trading it for a 1994 Ranger the following year after two guys got into a fight and one of them dented the truck by pushing the other into it. Yeah, I know... o_O

My dad traded his for a 1993 Chevy S-10 Blazer in June 1993, and someone bought that truck used from the Chevy dealer (Lafferty, now Patriot, on Street Road in Warminster). The second owner moved to York, PA and had the truck until they traded it in at a Mazda dealer in Carlisle in the summer of 2019. I was able to get all this history because my dad found the original window sticker in his old files, and I ran the VIN through Carfax. Unfortunately, my dad's truck was sold for scrap by the Mazda dealer with less than 150K miles on the clock, presumably due to severe rust and/or mechanical issues...

I originally saw this 1993 Dodge Dakota LE in the spectator parking area of a cruise night at Double Eagle Golf, almost ten years ago...

In October 2022, my friend let me use her junkyard as a backdrop for a zombie-themed photo shoot, and she even put on the "Zombie Huntress" outfit and let me splatter her with fake blood. After the photo shoot, I decided to wander the junkyard, and I came across something that broke my heart; I took a picture of the license plate that was still on the truck, compared pictures, and confirmed my worst fears...

I'm guessing that either the frame rotted out and it wouldn't pass inspection, or it suffered some sort of mechanical failure, and either way the repair costs exceeded the actual cash value of the truck. :(

That truck would look a lot worse after less than a decade in Massachusetts!

Figured now that I got it all running right I can post this. Picked it up for $200...

Previous owner thought it needed a head gasket, or two... nope. Just had the worst lower intake manifold gasket leak I've ever seen. Fixed it for another $180 and she's a good little truck. Has the 4.2L V6 and 5 speed manual.

Nice grab there. Reminds me of the $200 I dished out for my Murray tractor 12 yrs ago, said to have a bum engine but I needed the transaxle for mine. Turns out the spark plugs weren't even finger tight once I got it home and it fired right up.

What is the rainbow in the pics, a flag or something else?

It's my little IKEA Bluetooth speaker. Thing bumps good for how small it is.

One of these days I'll put up a real stereo in the shop, lot of days I'd rather have the little speaker in the house but am too lazy to go out and grab it.

I have a nice system in my living room but musically speaking it gets little use, my wife won't stand for my music when she's home. I have a decent Yamaha for the garage but not hooked up since I don't get to spend much time there..can't get the trucks under the door.

Clean title and the AC works, it's for sale if you're interested. Runs great, stops good, every feature it came with works (not that it hardly has any haha)
