Sorry, SUVs made midsize and large sedans practically useless. For the better, SUVs are far more practical than anything with a trunk.

Driver cars they are not, for pure transportation, SUVs and crossovers are king.

So you say today's CUVs are more practical...

Sedan's are great if you drive to work and drive home. Or want something that corners well, if that's your thing. If you actually do anything outside, the SUV/CUV makes a ton of sense.

That said, both of the pictures in the op are horrid. Lexus makes really nice looking crossovers now.

Exactly. Sedans fill a void that doesn’t really exist, their niche is boring transportation. Compacts get better mileage, are more agile, and are cheaper.

Look at the Ford 500. It’s a car to drive to church and brunch, outside of that market of old people it’s a dead driver, and a flop. That same sentiment is nearly all midsize and large sedans, with few exceptions like those that are chocked full of HP.

Like I stated... the original concept of the SUV is far and above far more useful than a car. Today's "CUV's" are nothing more than a car raised a few inches with a hatchback rear. It's basically yesterday's Civic DX hatchback or PT Cruiser with more ground clearance. Please tell me how that is more practical than a sedan or the original SUV's of yesteryear.

Sorry to jack your thread OP.

All wheel drive for starters. I could go on, but your mind is made up. I think a fast sedan is probably the most useless vehicle on the road today.

I like the concept of the SUV in its original form... truck based. Most sedans are available in AWD too. I'm not against the CUV as a whole but I'm against how their marketing them... there a subcompact with a lift... just call it as such and stop being fancy with the cheese whiz. That is what I'm saying. Take the "UTILITY" out of their name... because they ain't.

The Cullinan is a lifted sedan with AWD... period.

And... their killing other good options too. I liked the Fusion. But since Ford makes more money selling the Edge they didn' need it anymore.

    I'm done.

Utility doesn't have to equal off road. Load up a cooler, a dog crate and a couple mountain bikes on the roof. Boom, utility. I'm not overly fond about how their marketing the snuggie, but I'll get over it.

How is a compact car utility worthy?!

In that argument the Vista Crusier could be called a utility vehicle.

I'll give Rolls Royce credit for one thing, it's pretty darn unual to see a modern production passenger vehicle with independent suicide doors. There have been a few but it's definitely not commonplace anymore.

You're going to have to go back to 1971 or earlier. I worked on these cars for a few years and not all Rolls-Royce cars are created equal. I mean who could forget the uggo Camargue? I honestly think one had to have been coked out of their mind to buy one and the dealer threw in a few dinners at the Sizzler

Google "Bentley Dominator" to see a real RR-built SUV!

Also, the Camargue was a pioneering vehicle. Rolls-Royce used the Camargue as a test-bed of sorts for its state-of-the-art split-level climate control system back in 1975; This system became standard across the board for all RR and Bentley models in 1977...

    You think that's nuts...?

If the starter motor goes on a Bentley Continental GT (really just an overpriced VW), the entire engine must be removed to access it, and you're looking at about $15K in parts and labor!

If I remember correctly the reason they're so expensive is there's no aftermarket ones to be had, at least back in the day. They pretty much have you in a pickle with these cars
