My 2nd gen does it. Actually, every car I’ve ever owned has done it. If you don’t live in a particularly humid area you may not have noticed.

Seems only to be in 2nd Gens...

Did you own a 2nd Gen before your 3rd Gen? If so, would you say the A/C works better in the newer truck?

Wait until it’s almost 100° with 90% humidity.

What I’m worried about is the duct tape getting really stuck...

I did have a hula girl velcro’d to the dash for the longest time and that wasn’t hard to remove though...

I’ve been through that. My A/C was working in similar conditions last August, when it was about a pound low on refrigerant!

Would they have that at the grocery store...?

    That’s where I am now...

I had my second gen for about 11 years. I'm not much of an AC person though. I remember it working great when I did need it. I had it recharged by a shop a couple years ago, and it seems I needed to turn on recirculation to get it to work as well as before.

I have a 19 4Runner now, and it works fine for me.

78° is perfect temp for me :D

No idea. They might have masking tape.

Grocery store has a pretty shitty selection.

Also, I’ve been putting it off for the longest time, but you’re in Delaware now right? I am strongly considering getting an upgraded rear bumper again.

I ran into the same issue when I had my 2nd gen. I vaguely remember the problem going away if I set the A/C to recirculate rather than pulling in outside air.

And slightly off topic, my truck was a 6spd AC cab, and maybe the combination of the 4Runner being automatic and at least 1000 lbs heavier, I feel this applies...

I live in GA where summer humidity is a fact of life. Having the outside windows fog up during AM commutes is SOP. Either turn the AC off or the wipers on. It ain't a big deal when you deal with it daily.

My '15 doesn't do that, but I have the manual controls. The dash vents setting blows at the occupants and not on the window, the defroster setting blows on the window and not the occupants.

I wouldn't use tape, duct tape will turn into a goo and box tape won't stick or stick for long enough. I think your towel idea is best. Or get a piece of AstroTurf to toss up there so people will think "WTF??" :der::facepalm:

You said shirt, towel - shirt, same same.

Since I did this about 10 years ago, I do not remember exactly what I used. Seems like it was left over from the two stage sound deadening I put in the cab. It was a rubbery material kind of like an inner tube. I cut two strips and then using the same 3M spray adhesive I used for the second part of my sound deadening, I glue the two strips together. I put two strips together to add enough weight so it wouldn't float. It ain't perfect, but it's not noticable and for the most part it helped. There are some mornings where the windshield still fogs up. I can control this by warming up the AC a little bit.

Today, while delivering food for Uber Eats, I picked up an order at the McDonald's in Souderton. In the parking lot, I encountered an older gentleman in a silver 2007 AC 4.0L/6-speed 4x4 (I know it was a TRD of some sort, but forget whether it was a Sport or an Off-Road). The guy was the original owner, and proudly told me that he had 240K on original engine and tranny. He also told me that the truck had the original clutch! That got me to thinking...

How many people on here have over 150K miles and still have the original clutch?!?!

A few months ago, my truck's KBB value was less than eight grand. I had maybe 97K miles on it at the time. I average about a thousand miles a month (often more), and am now a little over 1,300 miles from 100K. As of right now, my truck's KBB value is $8,104.

My truck has been involved in a couple fender benders, but has been well-maintained it's entire life. Everything works, and according to KBB, my truck is considered to be in "good" condition. The KBB private party range is $7,132 to $9,075. Carfax lists it a bit higher (over $10K last I checked).

I also think that the fact it's almost summer could be a contributing factor.
