I’m the second owner of mine. Bought it with 86k miles and have put roughly 180k on it without any clutch work. Not sure if the 1st owner did anything to the clutch.

Throw out bearing aka factory cricket farm. Super common issue in the 2nd gen 6 speeds.

Used vehicle prices are determined by demand. Tacoma trucks are in greater demand than other mid-sized trucks. :amen:

Yes it’s because the second GEN Toyotas are in very high demand and very hard for some people to get. Which also makes me wonder why if people have these trucks why they would want to sell it for something else.
I always get these stupid Toyota buyback junk mail in my mail at least once a week always asking me to bring my Toyota in so they can buy it back and give me extra money for a new car. So it doesn’t surprise me that your value in your truck would go up. Tacoma’s real hold their value really well and resale value as well unlike the cheaper American made counterparts out there

Try cleaning the inside of the windshield. I’ve noticed a dirty windshield on the inside fogs up easier. The defroster is designed to operate with the compressor to dry the air to defrost the windows.

I wouldn’t use tape. When the heat of summer hits you are going to have a mess on your dash.

Mine does this too. no matter what i set it on it still leaks out of the defroster vent enough to fog up my windshield. Was thinking about making some kind of removable panel to cover the vent when not in use

Black construction paper would block the airflow and not reflect the light onto the windshield. I wouldn't use any tape on the dash unless you want a tacky mess...

I got a phone call last week from the dealer that I bought my 2nd gen from 5 years ago and they wanted to buy my truck back. I said no, but thank you for the excellent truck:)

When my evaporator core went a couple years ago, I price-shopped at a few different dealers. One of these was Sloane Toyota (which I believe is located in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania; can’t remember). I sent an email to their service department, stating the year, make, and model of my truck, and including my cell phone number. Not even a day later, some woman from Sloane left me a voicemail asking me to come to the dealer so she could put me in a new Toyota. I never once mentioned anything about wanting to look at a new vehicle or sell my current vehicle. I just wanted a price quote on installing a new evap core!

My truck has an automatic transmission...

I can only imagine the harassment I’d be enduring from dealers and private buyers alike if my truck had a third pedal!

My dad bought my truck new in September 2009. Less than three years later, he got a letter in the mail from the dealer he bought it from, offering to pay “top dollar” for it. This was sometime in 2012, and my uncle was offering to sell us a low-mileage 2002 AC SR5 PreRunner 2.7L/auto for a ridiculously low price. We almost sold the 2nd Gen and bought my uncle’s 1st Gen, but ultimately decided to keep the 2nd Gen.

From June to November of 2015, I took a second job delivering pizzas to make some extra money. In August 2015, I was involved in a minor fender-bender. The damage to my truck consisted of the front bumper being pushed in on the left side, a busted left headlight (the headlight still worked but had to be held in place with bungee cords), a busted grille, and a bent radiator support. The truck had no mechanical damage and I drove it for over a month with the front end damage before I was able to get it into the body shop. The cost to repair was about $1,500...

In the meantime, I had to drive a damaged truck for a month. The owner of the pizza place I worked was this old school, hotheaded, no-nonsense Italian immigrant. He apparently did construction work on the side and wanted a pickup for this purpose. The first time I showed up to work after the accident, he saw my damaged Tacoma and immediately tried to jawbone me into selling it to him, offering me cash. I don’t remember if he actually gave a specific number, but my truck had a little over 50K on the clock at the time and was worth somewhere in the range of $13,000-$14,000. I doubt his offer was anywhere near what the truck was actually worth.

My boss also had a hard time comprehending that my truck was an immaculately-maintained prized possession, and not just some piece of shit I’d purchased to deliver pizzas in, and that the only reason I was driving it damaged was because my trusted body shop was swamped and I was waiting on the insurance check.

Even if I were interested in selling my truck, I would not have sold it to my former boss for moral and ethical reasons...

    @skiergd011013

    I’ve told this story before...

One of my boss’s favorite employees was an illegal immigrant from Central America. How do I know this? The guy actually told me...

He was a very nice guy (the illegal), and I am not one to just narc on people. I’m just not that kind of guy...

Why wouldn’t I have sold my Tacoma to the pizzeria owner?!?! The undocumented immigrant also worked for him outside of the pizzeria, and he made it obvious that this guy would be driving my truck as part of his daily work routine. This guy knew how to drive, but for some reason never held a driver’s license in his home country, and obviously didn’t have one in Pennsylvania.

Say I did sell my truck to my former boss, and then I find out his employee wrapped it around a tree and killed himself, or caused an accident that killed other people...? I’d never have forgiven myself!

The condensation forms on the outside of the glass. Having the glass clean isn't the issue here. It is cold glass attracting moisture from humid outside air. We were in Florida at the beginning of May and had a 2019 minivan that had thi same problem. Sucks at night, especially when you need to use the wipers and the windshield is a love bug slaughtering ground.

I was under the impression until recently that my dad's interest rate on my Tacoma was 2.9% through Toyota (I think Toyota's financial service is called TTIC...?)...

Turns out that it was actually 0.9% through Citadel, with about $2,000 down plus the $2,300 my dad got for the 1996 Nissan Pathfinder we traded! Keep in mind that this was in September 2009, during the recession! My dad paid off the truck early, sometime in 2013 if I remember correctly. He gave me the truck in December 2016, signing the title over to me.
