Anybody on here old enough to remember Air Florida Flight 90, back in 1982? I'm obviously not but I saw a TV show about it...

A friend of mine was stranded in traffic, in his Rolls-Royce, for seven or eight hours as a result of that accident.

AFAIK, it's exactly for the reason you specified early on, or so I always assumed. They don't want you to be taking professional quality photos easily, that could later be sold for profit. (doesn't that require permission of multiple individuals?) I noticed this many years ago when concerts started limiting the cameras and lenses that could be brought in, and since then, more and more venues/events have started using that rule too. This is only my experience and opinion, others may vary ofcourse

Was on a commercial charter flight and the flight attended got on the PA and announced “gentlemen I kindly ask you to not put your automatic weapons in the over head carry compartment, thank you very much”. This was on our way back home from Iraq, actually leaving from Germany. I bet you no one will ever hear that again. We were putting our m249 Saw and M240G in the overheads lol. Not crazy just my funniest.

    That thinkware looks slick!

but might be out of my price range for now.

Anyone tried the Vava? It supposedly has G-force detection and a good app and all kinds of neat options.

I'm not sure if I'm on the spectrum or not but I would not be surprised. I've only had 2 relationships and definitely my share of career/job difficulties.

I did serve in the Army for almost six years total (4 active duty, the rest National Guard). College degree from Texas A&M in 2010.

Currently working full time in sales/delivery for a small Lucas Oil distributor here in the Denver area. Also a part-time Uber driver for 3 years now.

    The Blackvue look pretty spendy.

Are they really that much better?

I am just considering it in the light of a hit and runs or parking lot stuff where people bail...

    Well, this really sucks...

My external hard drive did not fail and totally erase itself like it did back in July 2012, but it may as well have. It has disappeared!

It’s not in my truck, my bedroom, or my backpack. I called the hotel where I stayed this weekend and they could not find it. I honestly think that if it’s there, it’s in a place that’s not obvious, and I don’t think anybody stole it.

This hard drive have pretty much the entire summer’s collection of car show photos on it, along with photos from David’s band gig photos. Luckily, I’d backed up my photos on another hard drive that I still have, but those photos are from July 2012-June 2019. I’ve essentially lost the entire summer’s photos!

All this driving around has essentially been for nothing! Now I’m actually going to have to go back to the York Expo Center, a venue I’ve found that after just two visits I don’t particularly care for, next year!

    2019 NSRA Nationals: GONE

    2019 Road Angels Show: GONE

    2019 Super Chevy Show: GONE

2019 Keystone Diesel Truck Nationals: Lame this year but GONE

2019 Carlisle Truck Nationals “Summer of ‘69” celebration: GONE

2019 Good Guys Nationals: Day 1 GONE

Numerous other local car shows and cruise nights between late June and early August: GONE

A few of these were shows that I’d had no intention of returning to because they’ve gotten so lame in recent years...

Driving Uber is about the only use people who aren’t tree-hugging liberals would have for a Prius!

I used Uber during a vacation in SoCal, back in July 2016, and one of the drivers was in a 2004 Prius with about 240K miles!

depends. do you want to be able to read the license plates? if so, you’ll have a better chance with the more expensive cams. higher resolution and higher quality image sensors. my apeman is good enough for what i need.

Where do you think it could be?

Also, the news isn't entirely bad. Turns out I actually did back it up after the first trip to York in June, so over 3,000 GM truck photos from that trip are safe!

Yeah if I didn’t do rideshare I probably would have never owned a Prius. But it’s been a very reliable and economical car.

Mine has 180k miles on it with no real problems.

Any dash cams with storage that can be hidden from any robbers?

Perhaps an sd card mount connected by a long wire?

I am actually in the insurance industry. These are so incredibly important. Make sure you get something that can see traffic lights and see your sides enough to see lane changes. If you are hit in a sideswipe incident, their insurance is going to claim you are at fault no matter what the police report says and even if they admit fault on scene (unless they tell their insurance). They will even dispute who had the “green light.”

I’ve personally been looking for an affordable model that I can stick in the front and rear if anyone knows a brand that is cheap, it would be appreciated.

Whatever setup you go with it is very important to format the memory card on a regular basis. A friend of mine has a Blackvue setup and just at the moment of impact his camera stopped recording. After taking the issue up with the company it turned out that the card was corrupted by not performing regular formatting.

Once I heard this happened I was so glad that I had gone with the Thinkware setup, it has a reminder to format the memory card every couple of weeks of recording.

The cost of the dashcam is really irrelevant when you think of all the insurance premiums and other related cost resulting from an accident that you may have to pay for if it wasn't the video evidence that the dashcam can provide.
