I recognize those Inspection and Emission Stickers in the window, glad I don't have to deal with that any longer.

It’s such a conflict of interest; The very people who fix cars for money are getting paid to inspect them for faults! When did you live in Pennsylvania?

I don't have any pictures of it, but I'll never forget the day I stumbled onto a mid-'80s Lincoln Continental (four door) with a BMW inline-6 turbo diesel. I wanted to save it but didn't have the space, time or money. I'm sure it's long since been crushed.

Until 1983 or so, the safety inspection had to be performed every six months! Such a crock of shit...

I think i bought my first car in 1983, can remember the inspection guy fooling around with the tail light and pulling this microscopic piece of plastic out from behind it and failing the inspection until I bought a new one.

I would have put my foot up that guy’s ass and taken my business elsewhere...

Seriously though, my truck has always been inspected by either my dad’s mechanic or the dealer. In about ten years and 105K miles, it’s never failed an emissions test. Only this year, for the first time ever, did it technically fail a safety inspection, because the front brakes were worn out. I made the dealer repair the brakes before doing the safety
inspection so it wouldn’t show up on the Carfax. Yes, failed emissions tests and safety inspections will show up on the Carfax.

That’s pretty funny I will admit. Of course the original was a great Bob Gibson song mainly popularized by Ray Charles, but Conway did do a pretty good version of it.
