That Checker Cab company got alot of use out of that one body style, seems like they produced the same version for about 30 years.

I am actually watching As Told By Ginger right now...

It would seem that the narrators SNAFU'd on the Gripling limo in later episodes...

For the first season and a half, the Gripling car is a generically drawn Rolls-Royce that most closely resembles a 1977-1980 Silver Wraith II (extended version of the venerable Silver Shadow). In the second season, the family buys another generic-looking limousine that resembles a cross between an Exclibur or Zimmer, and a Cadillac. The back end of this limo looks like either a 1981-1985 Cadillac Seville or a 1981-1983 Chrysler Imperial. The new Gripling limousine has double rear doors on either side that open like those on a Ford E-series van (Except they are full-size doors). This limo is white with tacky gold trim and a red leather interior. It features a large rear sunroof, a rear-seat flat-panel TV that folds down from ceiling, and an espresso machine, among other things. The old Rolls makes a few appearances after the white limousine's debut appearance, so the Griplings obviously kept it. The Rolls is either black or dark blue, also with tacky gold trim and darker red interior than the new limousine. In some of the later episodes, it appears that the animators mixed up the two limousines and drew the new large one in the colors of the Rolls.

There is also a storyline missing in the third season of As Told By Ginger. The 3rd season begins with the 3-part special Far From Home, where two of the mean girls are jealous of the attention Ginger is receiving from popular rich girl Courtney Gripling. One of the "mean girls", Melissa "Mipsy" Mipson, has an uncle on the board of the prestigious Avalanche Arts Academy. Ginger is a talented writer who applied to spend a semester there as part of a scholarship, but whose mom could never afford the tuition. Mipsy, your typical spoiled rich girl, pays off her her uncle using some of her bat mitzvah money. Mipsy also has a cousin attending Avalanche, who she pays to be nice to Ginger and ends up being her roommate. Courtney unintentionally finds about Miranda and Mipsy's plot, and tells Ginger's best friends Dodie and Macie.

Ginger comes home in the next episode, "Wicked Game", and begins a fresh new boyfriend/girlfriend relationship with her neighbor and longtime friend Darren Patterson. Dodie, Macie, Miranda, and Mipsy all become jealous of this and begin a plot to break up Darren and Ginger. Courtney finds out about this and tricks all four girls into confessing the plan to Ginger on a conference call. Ginger understandably stops talking to them. The episode ends with a distraught Dodie leaving a message on Ginger's answering machine, apologizing and wanting forgiveness.

Wicked Game originally aired on August 30th, 2003; Though the timeline of the series puts it somewhere around March 2002, just three months before the main characters were to graduate from 8th grade. The next episode, The Easter Ham, aired on April 11th, 2004. That's a solid eight months between episodes, even though they are in the same season. Episodes 5 through 10 of Season 3 aired in 2004, episode 11 aired in 2006, all on Nickelodeon/Nicktoons. Episodes 12 through 15 aired on The Splat instead of Nickelodeon, in late October 2016. Episode 16 was never aired in the United States. The 3-part series finale, The Wedding Frame, also never aired stateside; However, it is easy to obtain this on DVD here. I saw The Wedding Frame for sale at a grocery store of all places less than ten years ago! Episode 17, a Thanksgiving special called Ten Chairs, aired on Nickelodeon on November 24th, 2004. This means that it aired over a decade BEFORE four episodes that were produced before it!

That said, it can be assumed that Wicked Game and The Easter Ham take place within a month of each other despite airing about eight months apart. If I were Ginger or Darren, it would have taken A LOT for me to forgive Dodie and Macie. I definitely never would have forgiven Miranda, and if I were Ginger I probably would have jumped her and beaten the shit out of her. Keep in mind that Miranda has done the following to Ginger and her friends in less than two years at this point..

    • Tricked Ginger and her friends into stealing an "ENTER" sign from the local bank, for Ginger to give Courtney as a birthday present, only to call her father (a local cop) on them. Ginger, Dodie, Macie, and Darren all ended up with police records as a result of this.
    • Framed Ginger for the vandalism of a statue outside the school so Ginger would get suspended and she could take the lead role in the school play from Ginger; This episode had a happier ending than the first episode where Ginger got arrested, as Ginger obtained evidence against Miranda and was able to clear her name.
    • Consistently tries to humiliate Ginger and her family, and make them feel bad.
    • As stated above, leads a plot to break up Ginger and her boyfriend, and gets Ginger's best friends involved.

Macie was very begrudgingly jawboned into going along with the plan, so I can understand why Ginger would end up forgiving her. However, Ginger has completely forgiven Dodie for her role in the plot. Dodie is a genuinely good person, unlike Miranda, but she has a big mouth. She accidentally revealed to Miranda that Ginger has unshaven legs. She got her hands on a list of students who had lice when she was doing morning announcements, and humiliated a whole bunch of students before Ginger stopped her. Miranda is not a sociopath by any means (at least not in my opinion), but just a cold hard bitch who turned out the way she did because her police officer (and presumably ex-military) father has been very hard on her (not abusive, but just very hard and no-nonsense) for her entire life. Miranda stated in one episode that her father threatened to keep her from getting a driver's license and/or a car at age sixteen if she didn't take up a musical instrument (she plays the clarinet and hates every second of it). Miranda has been shown to have a conscience on a couple occasions. Dodie is just a gossipy bitch who can't keep her mouth shut, but ultimately means well. Ginger does mention Dodie's betrayal in one of the post-Wicked Game episodes, but it is never shown why Ginger forgave Dodie and what Dodie did to earn her trust back.

Also, As Told By Ginger was one of the very first shows aimed at children and preteens to hint at someone being gay. A central character in the series finale was a crossdresser/drag queen named "Nikki LaPorte" (real name Nicholas LaPorte). I have no idea whether or not he was gay, but he was definitely a crossdresser (this could be why this episode still remains unaired in the US). It is also a well-known fact that Courtney Gripling was supposed to be a closeted (or perhaps just unaware) lesbian/bisexual who had a crush on main character Ginger Foutley.

By Nickelodeon standards (at least in my opinion), ATBG explored a lot of relatively adult (or at least PG-13) situations. One early episode centered around Courtney Gripling and Macie Lightfoot doing so well in their middle school French class that they were promoted to high school French. A couple of high school girls (presumably 9th graders) became jealous of Courtney and found out rather quickly that she stuffed her bra to enhance her appearance. They plotted to "de-bikini" Courtney at a pool party, but Ginger and her friends got wind of this and saved the day. One of the high school girls actually comes up behind Courtney while they are playing chicken and undoes her bikini straps. Macie saves the day by putting a unicorn flotation device around Courtney, thus preventing anyone from seeing anything.

In another episode, the girls watch a movie about puberty in gym class. This video talks about a "monthly visitor", and also shows uncensored footage of an actual childbirth. Courtney Gripling throws up on Miranda's shoes upon seeing the latter...

Keep in mind that I was like 12 when I first saw this episode, so the "monthly visitor" part went right over my head*. However, I rewatched the episode a few years ago for the first time in probably ten years; I remember being surprised that this was actually brought up in a show targeted at kids. However, the intended audience was preteens (mostly girls; I do know there are more straight male fans of the show like myself out there), so a hint at a girl's menstrual period kinda makes sense.

Kisses between boy and girls between 10 and 13 were also the norm in this show, which my opinion just further adds to the overall genius of it all! It deeply saddens me that only 60 episodes were ever made, and that certain side stories were not explored further.

*My dad gave me "the talk" in fifth grade, so I knew how babies were made by the time I was twelve. I knew what sex was, but I had little knowledge of how a woman's body worked until I was 13 or 14 (a female friend explained to me what "PMS" was).

This convertible belongs to the realtor who sells the Foutley’s home in season three; It resembles a cross between a 1996-2005 Volvo C70 and 1993-1995 Chrysler LeBaron, both of which seem to be appropriate vehicles for a realtor to be driving in 2002-2003...

Definitely the front end, but that doesn’t seem like something an ER physician in his early 40s would be driving in the early 21st century...
