I was thinking something like this for the garage, watched quite a few YouTube Videos of people using these types saying they do a great job heating up a cold garage.

In my area (Bucks County, PA), where this was filmed, heat pumps are typically installed when natural gas is unavailable and the builder doesn't want to have oil or propane. My friend's house is unique for numerous reasons, including the central air...

This house has a straight-cool 3-ton (36,000-BTU) central air-conditioner (NOT a heat pump). It is located in the middle of nowhere, so the lack of natural gas is understandable. However, this house was built in 1987, a time when most non-gas houses in the area either have oil heat or a heat pump. This house has neither! It has electric baseboard heat, which works well enough but costs a fortune to run! If this were my house, I'd run the Carrier until it died and then replace it with a heat pump, because heat pumps are cheaper to run than electric baseboard heat!

I’ll be down in Doylestown for 3 weeks in January. Worried about getting a ticket for my tint on my 4runner

Legal in Hawaii but not in Oregon? Or are you worried about getting the ticket in Pennsylvania?

My window tint is technically illegal in New Jersey, but I don't give a shit because my truck is registered in Pennsylvania and it's legal by PA law! Fuck window tint laws!

The old AC Unit outside I have here is not overly noisy but the main furnace unit in the house is quite loud.

I had more trouble taking pictures of cars and trucks than I ever did making HVAC videos...

The few HVAC videos I made without proper permission were either done on the sly without certain people finding out, or I lied to people who confronted me and I was long gone before they knew I didn't have permission to be there!

This 1973 General Electric Executive air-conditioner in a video from 2012 is a perfect example of lying about having permission to film the thing and then making myself scarce before they had the opportunity to find out I didn't!

Would you like to hear the story about how I got busted for filming a 40-year old an air-conditioner and still got away with it?

So, this is why I always looked for cameras after this incident...

You'll notice at about 3:14-3:15 into the 1973 GE video that it "skips"...

If I remember correctly, that is where I sensed the presence of another person behind me. I looked around and saw a guy looking at me talking into one of those "push-to-talk" cell phones. He said he'd seen me on camera poking around the air-conditioner and asked what I was doing. He wasn't an asshole, so I told him. He asked if I had permission and I said yes. He went back inside and left me alone. I finished the video and got the hell out of there. The 1973 GE was located at a church. That was over seven years ago (video is from the summer of 2012) and nobody has come after me about the video, so I think I'm safe...

They were probably worried about theft.

    @shakerhood

There was this one time in 2009 when I went to the annual "Designer House" with my friend (Same one who owns the house with the 2003 Gibson A/C) and her elderly mother. We had to take her mom to Doylestown Hospital for an appointment of some sort before we went to the Designer House. This was about three months before I finally got my learner's permit and more than four months before my dad bought me the Tacoma, so was dependent on my friend to drive me to the Designer House.

I inevitably got bored waiting at the hospital and found a couple of 1989-1990ish ICP central A/C units located outside a door. This was in the earliest days of my HVAC videos, so my standards were low. They weren't even running, but I wanted to add them to the collection. I asked a receptionist (who in actuality had no authority to give me permission) if I could make a quick video of the A/C units for my YouTube channel. She said she didn't care. I made a short video of the A/C units without incident and we went to the Designer House. I did not hear about this again for almost two years...

In 2011, I made friends with some volunteer firefighters from the Doylestown Fire Company. I told them about my YouTube, they watched my channel, and I ended up getting invited to the station to film the air-conditioners and get a ride in their brand new firetruck!

When I was at the station, some older guy heard my name and "filming air-conditioners" in a sentence and recognized me. From what he said, it would seem that hospital security found out about that air-conditioner video back in 2009 and had been looking for me for quite a while after I posted the video to "ask me some questions." I'd made the video back in May 2009, and the firehouse visit was in August or September of 2011. More than two years had past, so they'd either given up or forgotten. Regardless, I was still a bit uneasy, but that in itself was over eight years ago so once I again I think I am safe.

Also, they were hospital security guards and not real cops, so it's not like I have to answer their questions anyway! :luvya:

And this is what has always confounded me...

Suspicion I can understand, but the misguided connection between hobby photographers/videographers is unfounded in my opinion. Obviously, if a person is caught snapping pictures of a nuclear power plant or a military installation there's good reason to be suspicious and stop them for questioning. However, a guy filming an air-conditioner with a digital camera in broad daylight, and making no attempt to hide himself...?

I am not a thief, but if I was, my philosophy would be "smash, grab, and run like hell!" Walking around with an SLR camera in brought daylight...? No!
