Yes I do. Walls and windows feel solid. House is under a lot of shade too. Had the refridgerant checked three years ago, I might check it again next season. Other major issue is that the condenser sucks in all the shit that drops from my trees, I'm betting it's not getting air exchange. I try to spray it clean every season, but might have forgot this summer.

5-ton is the biggest residential A/C you can get; That would be impressive if an 1,800 square foot house needs a 5-ton, even by Texas standards!

My last house was 2000 square feet, I had a 3.5 dual stage installed on it. That thing could drop the temp 10 degrees in about as many minutes.

    I didn't know you could get a half-ton (1.5, 2.5, 3.5) in dual-stage. Though the more I think about it, I believe the 2003 Lennox 2.5-ton at my friend's house is dual-stage.

My Grandma's condo was built in 1993 or 1994. It is only consider a condo for legal/tax purposes because it is attached to another residence and my Grandma does not own the land. Size-wise, it's bigger than many single-family homes. I believe it is like 2,500 square feet not including the finished basement. It is two stories. The original HVAC system was a York heat pump with a Trianco propane boiler tied into the system as backup heat. Propane was really expensive, so most residents bypassed the propane and switched to all-electric. When my Grandma bought the house in 2006, it had a 2004 Goodman 3.5-ton (42,000 BTU) 10 SEER heat pump. It worked great for cooling, though the upstairs was warmer than the downstairs because, well...

**Cough, cough** Two-story house over 2,000 square feet with only one air-conditioner **Cough, cough**

When the Goodman shit the bed in the summer of 2015, I talked my grandma into getting a 2-stage system to make up for the uneven cooling; She settled for the mid-grade Carrier Performance Series. 2-stage systems were only available in 2-ton, 3-ton, 4-ton, and 5-ton. The company that she bought from said installing a 4-ton would be fine, so that's what she bought. In more mild weather, the system operates at half capacity. At full capacity, the Carrier has an extra 12,000 BTUs of power than the Goodman it replaced, and the upstairs is noticeably cooler in the summer.

Amazingly enough, he probably would have lived if the certain scumbag son of an HVAC tycoon had rendered aid instead of running away like a bitch...

I seem to remember that autopsy results listed the direct cause of death as drowning, and the injuries sustained directly from the accident were survivable!

Also, while we are discussing HVAC, here's a list of the heating and cooling systems in every home we've ever lived in from 1989 to present!

    • Parents' first house (3-bedroom rancher; Milpitas, California; Owned); Purchased in 1988 and sold in 1990; Electric baseboard heat and no central air
    • The Dunhill (4-bedroom, 2,700 square foot, 2-story colonial; North Wales, Pennsylvania; Owned); Purchased in 1990 and sold in 1996; Snyder General (Branded as Comfortmaker) straight-cool A/C and gas furnace
    • Shitty government house #1 (2-bedroom, 700 square foot, 2-story; Rented); Lived there from September 1996 to March 1997; Wall-mounted electric heater
    • Not-as-shitty government house #2 (3-bedroom, roughly 1,200 square foot, 2-story; Rented); Lived there from March 1997 to June or July 1998; I honestly don't remember what kind of heat it had
    • First Virginia house (3-bedroom, 2,000 square feet, 2-story; Virginia Beach; Owned); Owned from July or August 1998 to June 2000; Carrier (I think; It certainly looked like a Carrier) straight-cool A/C and gas furnace
    • The Rancher (4-bedroom, 2,300 square feet, 1-story; Oak Harbor, Washington; Rented); Lived there from July or August 2000 to July 2002; Unknown brand gas furnace and no central air
    • Second Virginia house (5-bedroom, 2-story, 3,500-4,000 square feet w/finished basement; Centreville, Virginia; Owned); Owned from July 2002 to June 2005; Original Trane XE 900 air-conditioner and presumably original Trane gas furnace
    • The basketcase (4-bedroom, 2-story, 2,500 square feet; Doylestown, Pennsylvania; Rented); Lived there from July 2005 to July 2007; Goodman/Janitrol air-conditioner and unknown brand oil furnace
    • The Townhouse (3-bedroom, 2-story; 2,500 square feet; Furlong, Pennsylvania; Owned) Owned from September 2007 to March 2016; Dual Carrier 2-ton air-conditioners matched with 40,000 BTU gas furnaces
    • Current house (4-bedroom, 2-story, 2,900 square feet; Location withheld; Owned); March 2016-present; Dual Goodman air-conditioners (2.5-ton for 1st floor/basement and 2-ton for 2nd floor) and unknown size gas furnaces

I had an apartment for a couple years that had an HVAC system that reminded me of what was in hotel rooms. There was a large picture window and the unit was sticking halfway into the living room and halfway outside. It was fairly comfortably in the living room itself but the kitchen and bathroom were freezing cold in the winter, the bedroom had baseboard heat so it was ok.

Looks like I guessed the time frame correctly as I told you I thought it was late 80s to early 90s when it was put in. I am definitely due for a new furnace/AC for this place.
