That's 70,000 BTUs, 95% efficiency; Your house must be poorly insulated! Our 2,500 square foot townhouse in Furlong, PA had two 40,000 BTU gas furnaces and two 2-ton air-conditioners...

Is the insulation in your house inadequate? How many square feet is your house again?

 

Yeah insulating the attic is on my to do list, it has a couple inches of blow in stuff up there now but it's so old that it's practically just dust. I think my paperwork has it marked around 1350 square feet.

 

My parents’ last house was over 1,100 square feet bigger than yours and had 80,000 BTUs by comparison...

 

Ouch, that was probably a bummer.

$2,200 in damage; The guy tried to fight the DUI charges, and the prosecutor was going to put me on the stand (luckily it didn't come to that); I found out from the prosecutor that this asshole KILLED somebody while driving drunk in the 1980s!

Well at least it worked out in your favour.

 

Not without a lot of bullshit first...

The guy told his insurance company I ran a stop sign and they believed him; His insurance company was literally looking for any reason not to have to pay to fix my truck, even though the guy was a repeat offender. My insurance company had to eat the cost of fixing my truck even after taking his to court, but they waived the deductible and didn't raise my rates.

Here's one...

A few years ago, my dad asked me to pick up some beer. I went to one of the local beer stores (Either in Chalfont or Doylestown) and as to be expected, they carded me. Since this beer was for my dad, I used his credit card instead of mine. The guy actually asked me who the beer was for, and I was honest; I said it was for my 50-something dad, whom the credit card belonged to. He believed me.

Seriously though; If I were buying the beer for an underage party or something, do you really think I'd be stupid enough to say that? Everybody always assumes the worst from everybody nowadays!

Another time, in August 2015, I rear-ended a Ford Mustang GT in stop-and-go traffic going like 5-10 MPH. The damage to my truck and the Mustang was minimal; The woman who'd been driving the Mustang immediately asked what I'd been doing...

Translation: "Were you looking down at your phone?"

I do not text and drive, and that was one of those rare times I'd left my phone at home; If I had been texting and driving, do you think I'd actually admit to that? I admitted fault and handed over my insurance info.

The cop who responded also asked me what I'd been doing, and again I told him the truth; That I'd just glanced off to the side, traffic had stopped, and I hadn't. It was a simple accident.

 

And that's how they test you...

Cops ask if you're carrying bazookas in your vehicle to gauge your response; If you respond in a lighthearted way and laugh it off, then they aren't suspicious.
