And my truck is particularly special to me because it was a gift from my parents! Hopefully someday I'll hold the title to a Rolls-Royce like the one above!

If I sold the Tacoma, I could afford to buy a decent Rolls-Royce SZ right now, but I couldn't afford the cost of routine maintenance! What do you think of the black car?

 

Black is a pain in the ass to keep clean, I've had dark blue in the past and now MGM and they do require a bit more time to keep looking nice.

 

Black interiors are easier to keep clean than lighter colors; Also, it's been over 20 years since the last Silver Spur was made and finding a decent one isn't exactly easy these days so I couldn't be too picky about the color if I did buy one!

 

I have owned several Silver vehicles, they hide dirt better than anything else.

As the owner of a silver Taco for more than a decade, I couldn't agree more, but I won't be able to be picky with colors when choosing a decent 1990s Rolls-Royce!

 

Right, that way they could save money sharing components.

Unfortunately, it's a BMW in just about every other respect!

 

Yeah maintenance would cost a fortune.

 

Well, Rolls-Royce regularly used GM-sourced components all the way through the 1990s, including...

• Delphi-Harrison A/C compressors
• TH400 3-speed automatic transmissions
• Delco AM/FM stereo cassettes

But Rolls-Royce was still it's own company! In the late 1990s, BMW bought the rights to the Rolls-Royce name and the trademark grille; Volkswagen bought the rights to Bentley name and the Rolls-Royce 6.75-liter V8 engine (Rolls bought Bentley in 1931). Since the late 1990s and early 2000s, these once-proud automobiles have been overpriced Bimmers and VWs!

 

Maintenance costs a fortune for REAL Rolls-Royce and Bentley vehicles; Unfortunately, being owned by BMW does not make maintenance much cheaper (same with VW owning Bentley)!
