What you do in your own garage is your business, my friend!

The guy who ended up in my garage was 20 years old, claimed to have been bored out of the Air Force for underage drinking, was convinced there were people after him, and smelled like he shat his pants!

When I served the military was allowed to drink on base or overseas at 18 years of age. My son got out of the Navy last year and I remember asking him if 18 year olds could still drink but I don't recall what he said (refer back to my drug comment LMAO!).

BTW, everyone in the Air Force smells like that because it's a requirement. Jk!!! Calm down Airman Snuffy!

What’s weird is that this kid claimed he was stationed in Japan at the time he got in trouble, and I’m pretty sure that that legal drinking age in Japan is like 18 or 19...?

    Sooo…

I was planning on going to the AutoMania swap meet at the Allentown Fairgrounds this coming Saturday, but my area (Central Bucks County) is expecting to get three to five inches of snow this Saturday. Allentown is a bit farther north, so that area will likely get a bit more snow, and I do not want to be stuck an hour from home in a 2WD pickup when that hits!

Allentown AutoMania is run by Carlisle Events, so this by default makes it good. However, it is not a car show: Classic cars and trucks do inevitably show up though! The one and only time I went was in January 2016, with two intentions; Those being to photograph Chevy and GMC trucks, and purchase vintage automotive literature. There ended up being no vendors of automotive literature, so I spent most of time there taking pictures of cool vehicles in the parking lot. The farmer's market was also going on that day, so there were tons of vehicles in the parking lot!

One notable detail about that weekend in January 2016 was we had record-settingly warm temperatures; It had to be in the high sixties the day I was there! Christmas 2015 holds the distinction of being the only time in my life that it was warm enough to turn on the central A/C in the house! It was in the seventies and incredibly humid during the holidays that year, too humid to open the windows and turn on a fan, so we actually turned on the air-conditioning in the house!

The winter of 2015-2016 as a whole was incredibly warm! In the past, my parents and I have generally stopped using the A/C in the house for the season in October; We typically get at least one unseasonably warm day in mid-March that allows us to test the A/C in the house and all three cars, and then we start using the A/C in the house and the vehicles on a daily basis by the end of May. The A/C in the house is generally in constant use, with the thermostat set between 68 and 72, from the middle of May through the beginning of October.

Going back to the present time, I'd been planning on going to AutoMania for a few weeks, but I knew it would not be as warm as it was in 2016 even if it didn't snow or rain. Even I don't want to photograph cars in an outdoor parking lot when it's the forties or colder outside!

So yeah, probably not gonna do AutoMania this year...

We're getting close to the Super Bowl, so I figured I'd revive this thread by sharing this story...

This happened on Super Bowl Sunday in 2011, just over a month before I turned 22; I was at a friend's house for Super Bowl party. A friend of a friend, who I'd never met before, showed up with a case of beer. Inevitably, I wanted a beer. I asked if I could have a beer, since it was someone else's stash, expecting "Sure! Go right ahead!" I am 99% sure that I had not started drinking yet and was completely sober...

Instead the self-righteous asshole, who I believe was named Nick, asked to see my ID. I gave him a "WTF?" look, but ultimately reached for my wallet. To my absolute horror, I realized I'd left my wallet at home! I told Nick that I was about to turn 22, and asked him if I could please just have a beer. Nick wasn't having it...

I was seconds away from saying "Either you can believe that I am of legal drinking age, which I am, and give me a beer; Or I can kick your ass and just take a beer!" I was much bigger and taller than Nick, and would have had little trouble putting him on his ass...

Luckily, someone else suggested that Nick check my age on my Facebook profile and he agreed; Nick saw proof that I was 21 and let me have as many beers as I wanted, but I still kinda wanted to kick his ass for being such an uptight asshole! That was almost nine years ago, and I have NEVER been asked to show proof of my age at a private party when asking if I can drink from someone else's alcohol stash!

Shit I get asked all the time. A liquor store denied me a purchase cause my wife didn’t have her ID on her. Left the bottles at the counter and walked out.

I hate when they pull that shit...

I've heard of Walmart denying purchases to adults because they have their teenage kids with them!

I am actually on Nick's side and think he did the right thing.

In this day of frivolous lawsuits, all it would take is for him to give someone who is underage a beer and then that person get into an accident that hurts themselves or somebody else. The underage person's parents would be out for money "justice".

The lawyers would swoop onto this like Rosie O'Donnell onto a Golden Corral buffet.

I was in Wal-Mart the other day behind a girl and an old lady in a motorized cart. The girl was buying a whiskey and the clerk asked for ID, she said it was for Grandma and they let her go

Keep in mind that I was an immature 21-year who saw Nick as little more than an obnoxious obstacle between me and a case of beer...

As was mentioned above in this day and age of lawsuits everyone has to go by the book.
