What is it with mobsters and Cadillacs (and Lincolns)?

In the series everyone in the DiMeo crime family, with the exception of Tony Soprano in the first five seasons and Christopher until halfway through season six, drove a Cadillac; Tony and Christopher both had Escalades, not sedans!

Silvio Dante drove a 1992-1993 Cadillac Seville as late 2001, and another mobster named Feech La Manna drove a 1975 Eldorado in 2004. The most expensive and flamboyant vehicle driven by any of the mobsters in the series was a silver Maserati coupe owned by Jonathan "Johnny Sack" Sacramoni; The car was initially portrayed by 2002 Maserati Coupe upon its debut in season five, which is weird because the season four took place in 2004 and the car was supposed to brand new. Johnny Sack was arrested by the feds at the end of season four; His Maserati was portrayed by a completely different car, a 2005 Cambiocorsa in the same color. Christopher Moltisanti bought the car from Sack for surprisingly low $25,000 cash, and it was later seized by the government anyway because they deemed it to be an illegal sale due to Sack's assets being frozen; Christopher replaced the Maserati with a brand new 2007 Escalade EXT, which he totaled in 83rd episode of the series.

Salvatore "Big Pussy" Bonpensiero was seen driving a 1984 Buick Riviera, a car that was fifteen years old at the start of the series, until he was killed for being a government informant; Pussy was struggling financially due to having to put his kids through college and resorted to dealing heroin, which is how he ended up turning state's evidence; It would make sense that he was driving a much older car...

Like my aunt and uncle's old house in Virginia that I showed you pictures of; I've heard that septic tanks can be trouble and I've never lived in a house that had one...

The house in Doylestown that my parents rented from 2005 to 2007 had a well and public sewer though; The well system in itself worked fine, but if we lost power the faucets wouldn't work!

 

In 1999, Tony's childhood friend Artie Bucco (a chef with his own restaurant and not a mobster or criminal) was driving a 1985 Chevrolet Caprice wagon that actually appeared to be in decent shape; At least it was in decent shape until Artie got into an argument with Tony (whose red 1999 Suburban can be seen in the background) and smashed out a taillight with the butt of his rifle (No, Artie was not a mobster; Yes, he did own a gun)...

 

And then another mobster in the DiMeo family was driving a 1993 Cadillac Sedan DeVille in 2007 (this car was filled with bullet holes in an assassination attempt by rival mobsters moments after this screenshot)...

 

My friends parents had one like that way back when but it was slightly darker brown.

 

I can't help but wonder where the producers got all of these minty fresh 15-year old Detroit landyachts...
