That kinda possibly looks like a Receiver/Dryer over there to the left so I am going to guess it has functioning AC.

I've been told that everybody gets out of the way of a Crown Vic because they think it's a cop car!

When I lived in Northern Virginia, Fairfax County had it's own countywide police force; Some of the smaller towns, like Vienna, had their own police departments. In Bucks County, there is a County Sheriff, but police forces are divided up by township. Doylestown and much of the surrounding area falls under the jurisdiction of the Central Bucks Regional Police Department, which was formed in in 2013 or 2014 when the the Doylestown Borough Police merged with the New Britain Township Police and possibly the Chalfont Police (can't remember). They one Crown Vic until a few years ago, but now it's Tahoes, Expeditions, Explorers, and maybe one Charger. Doylestown Township (separate from CBRPD) has Chargers and Tahoes. The township where I live (not listed for privacy reasons), has a bunch of Explorers, a couple of the those Taurus SHO-based Police Interceptors, at least one F150 crew cab, and a couple of Tahoes; I believe they also have motorcycles, but those are only in use when it's warm...

Police from different jurisdictions routinely join forces for DUI checkpoints and DOT checkpoints; I have not seen a Crown Vic on patrol in my area in years :(

The State Cops and Sheriffs have Chargers and on occasion have Tahoe's too, in town I will see some Explorers though.

I got one speeding ticket in the Tacoma - 43 MPH in a 25 MPH zone on a deserted road at almost midnight - Fought it and got it reduced to 5 MPH over, so no points on my license! It was on a steep hill, so it was a total speed trap...

The day I got that ticket I honestly didn't see the cop as he was out in front of my apartment complex, my apartment was in back and he thought I was fleeing. He asked me over and over several times if I lived back in there and was even sitting in the parking lot the next day to see if I came out of the apartment, think that's why I cant remember which car I was driving.

    My pointless 2 cents.
I tend to be pretty much anti-insurance, it happened after I once calculated how much I had spent on insurance over a long period of time compared to what they paid out, and that amount started to approach the cost of a replacement...

Insurance is most needed by those that cant afford it, it really feels like a tax on the poor to me.... (if you could afford to buy a another vehicle if something happens you dont need insurance, but it makes it harder to get to where you can afford that if you are paying insurance on it the whole time... There is no magic way out of that)

My approximate rules of thumb, Take 10 years as a good yardstick:

How much *additional* insurance cost has the comprehensive coverage cost you 10 years, add it up.

How much has insurance paid out for you in 10 years, take a swag.

How much is the vehicle worth (as in how much will insurance pay out max, approx.)

If insurance has paid out 1/4 as much as you paid for the added coverage, then that seems reasonable to pay for some 'piece of mind' to me, that is my personal number.

If insurance costs over 10 years is more than ~66% of the value of the vehicle will be in 10 years, that is a red flag for me. If you had saved the money that would be sent to the insurance company, I could have bought another vehicle in that time, a replacement vehicle... (if you aren't unlucky right at the beginning). And if I make it to the end that is money I just get to keep.

For reference, I carry no comprehensive insurance on any of cars, boats, etc, or house. We have probably had about $5k in damages in the last 10 years on the family's vehicles in that time, and a couple hurricane direct hits (minimal damage).

Note, this analysis only makes sense where there is a maximum reasonable replacement cost (cost to build new house = $100k, cost to buy new truck $35k).

If we use this logic on health insurance, it doesnt really work because insurance may pay up into the millions for ongoing treatment, because cant just buy a new body...

But if you cant live tomorrow if a vehicle gets destroyed, then I certainly couldn't recommend going without the coverage.

Given the savings rates of Americans most people dont have a dedicated Truck replacement account stuffed with $20,000 that they accumulated by paying themselves the premiums instead of the Ins Co. I'm going through this now as my 09 was totaled two weeks ago

first of all, there is no such thing as “full coverage”. it’s completely subjective as you have thousands of combinations you can choose from!

you are correct in what comp and collision cover. if you drop your collision, does your premium change much? sometimes it doesn’t depending on what deductible you have.

and you need to verify if you have um/uim for both bodily injury and property damage, if available.

yes. you need to take your deductible and actual cash value of your truck into consideration. how much is your truck worth after depreciation and how much is your deductible. is it worth it to spy the deductible while paying a premium for the coverage? only you know the answer.

i’m licensed in all 50 states but i can’t remember if pa has uninsured pd?
