The May 2017 incident marked the first time I'd EVER been pulled over since getting my license (and I'd had it for six years by then; 43 MPH in a 25 zone, at around midnight, going down a steep hill in a notorious speed trap area, when nobody else was on the road). I was rocking out to my stereo and neglected to monitor my speedometer...

Would have been 4 points on my license if I'd just paid the ticket; But I consulted a friend who happens to be a lawyer, took it to court, and got it knocked down to 5 MPH over, which is no worse than a parking ticket in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and carries no points...

To date, my driving record is clean in the eyes of my insurance company and I've never gotten any points on my license!

2nd gen Tacoma's, Jeeps, and FJ's are exceptions. The values don't really depreciate that much. Especially FJ's!

Am Umbrella policy is additional coverage on top of your underlying policies. Meaning, let's say you have $1,000,000 personal liability coverage on your home/property. Your friend trips on a loose board and falls off your porch and sues you for $2,000,000. Your person liability policy will pay the first $1,000,000, the second million is on your dime unless you have $1,000,000 umbrella policy which would cover the rest. NOW, what you have to understand is an umbrella policy also has minimum underlying requirements. Usually at least $500,000. So let's say your in a car accident and the person Sues you for $2,000,000 in injuries. Your umbrella policy has a $500,000 minimum underlying requirement. But, you only carry a state minimum 25,000/50,000/25,000 auto insurance policy. Your auto policy will cover $25,000, then you have to pay ($500,000 - $25,000) $475,000 out of your pocket before the umbrella policy pays the other $1,000,000.

So when your agent said, your too poor to worry or whatever, basically what he was saying was that for an umbrella to ever actually come into any useful effect for you, you would have to increase the coverages on all your other policies so much to meet the minimum requirements to where the umbrella policy would offer you any benefit that you couldn't afford it.

That is an extremely simplified explanation, yah I know it's not to the legal letter detailed, etc.... So not pickets don't get your panties in a bunch, I'm about to go to bed and you get the idea :)

I ordered this game on Amazon last week; According to Amazon, the damn thing has been at two different locations in Montana in the last day!

For whatever reason, it was not eligible for Prime, but for what it cost including tax it should have been overnighted in my opinion!

I have gone to the "Run With the Angels" car show at the Moravian Tileworks on the second Sunday in July, every year since 2009; It's the one show I've NEVER missed! In 2016, I got completely annihilated at my cousin's wedding reception in Allentown on Saturday night, and stayed up until well past 2am partying with my cousins and other family members. I was so hammered I barely made it back to my hotel room, but the following morning I woke up I'd say 99% sober and without a hangover; I got the Taco out of valet, and drove more than an hour back to Doylestown on no more than six hours of sleep; I picked up a new memory card for my camera at a Walmart in Quakertown, picked up my best friend Mike in Warminster, and drove to the show in Doylestown; I got many good pictures, but ended up leaving early when my 3½-year old Nikon D5100 started having issues. Good times!

The show has never been rained out in the decade I've been going to it, but it almost always ends up being one of the hottest days of the summer; Back when I was still using a point-and-shoot camera for video, it was so hot that my sweat started rubbing the little words and pictures right off the buttons of my camera!

Like I said, they've always held it at the Moravian Tileworks/Fonthill Museum in Doylestown, until this year; In the last couple of years, the turnout has been underwhelming compared to previous years. Maybe ten minutes ago, I googled the show to see if it was cancelled this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic; Turns out that it isn't (yet), but they have moved it to a new location. This new location is the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology on York Road in Jamison. I've been to a few shows at MBIT, and the best ones were back in 2013-2014; Subsequent shows have been rather underwhelming...

One of the biggest issues is that there is nowhere near as much space as there is on the grounds of the Moravian Tileworks. There is plenty of space for both spectators and show cars, and there always ended up being space to spare, even in "Golden Era" of 2009-2015ish (just my opinion).

I will go to the show at MBIT because it is even more of a tradition for me than the Carlisle Truck Nationals; I have literally gone every year from 2009 to 2019, and if the Coronavirus doesn't cause it to get cancelled, I have every intention of being there this year!

However, I have a feeling that this may be the beginning of the end; I've seen similar things happen before, to once-great shows...

During this damn virus they have been having a rolling car show/parade on the main street thru town on Saturday evenings. But last week some jackass did a massive burn out and ran from the cops with speeds exceeding 100 so I am expecting it to get closed down.

Yea unmarked. After 10 years on the force they can drive their own POVs. The also have explorers, chargers and a few others on a list to choose from but most of them choose 4runners

The most notable example would be the annual cruise night they held every week (specifically every Tuesday) from MAy through October at the Shady Brook Farm...

I believe the show started somewhere in the range of 2006-2008; I didn't get my driver's license until 2011, and 2013 was the first year I really started covering longer distances to attend various automotive events. Every. Single. Tuesday. The number of people in attendance, both participants and spectators, was absolutely staggering for a mere "cruise night". It got rained out a couple of times in the summer of 2013, but I always spent two or three hours there wandering around; There were awesome vehicles to take pictures of both in the parking lot and the actual show! Just about every vehicle you could possibly imagine! Muscle cars, hot rods, tuners, trucks, SUVs, lowriders, kit cars, motorcycles; Everthing!

Sadly, 2013 was the first and last year I went to that show in its original incarnation at Shady Brook Farm; The show had started out small maybe half a decade early, but grew beyond what anybody thought it would ever become. I heard two different stories from both officials and longtime attendees; One was that a combination of complaints from residents about noise (engines, burnouts, stereos, etc) and from the police about traffic issues had led to the show's demise...

The other story I heard was that the owners of Shady Brook Farm wanted to charge admission to both participants and attendees, and take a cut of the profits; The people who ran the show relied entirely on donations as far as I know, and had no interest in turning a profit. It was all about getting like-minded individuals together for a rip-snortin' good time!

For 2014, the organizers found another location, but unfortunately it was a good distance farther for me than Shady Brook Farm; The new location was at Double Eagle Golf in Morrisville, which was a much smaller piece of land. Some cruise nights got incredibly busy, but in my opinion they were never at the same level as the original Shady Brook cruises; The shows were also held every other Tuesday as opposed to every Tuesday :(

The show held on until 2018, and then after 2018 I found out that they would no longer be holding the cruise night, for reasons I am still not entirely sure of...

Part of the reason I really started racking up miles on my truck from about 2015 to 2018 is because I would put on 100 miles a month between May and October just driving to Morrisville and back! I actually showed my Taco at Snipes Farm (the location of Double Eagle Golf)...

Someone always has to be “that guy”...

I’ve been guilty of doing burnouts in my truck at car shows (never been caught)...

    :anonymous:

I’ve seen people get pulled over for doing burnouts at car shows; Just stop for the cops and take it like a man!

I’m guessing the guy who ran had a suspended license and/or no insurance, and/or he was drunk...

If a 4Runner tried to pull over, I’d probably call 911 because I’d convinced they were impersonating an officer...

A couple years ago I was at a car show and a guy in a built Vega rolls up to the stop sign. I can see the cops sitting right on the main road he is turning onto so I say to him not to do a burn out, he proceeds to light them up and the cop waved him over immediately.

I really don't see the problem with just doing a burnout; It seems like a victimless crime in most cases...

Right I don't mind it much either as long as they are doing it in a designated area or a little away from people.

I meant here in PA, or anywhere in the lower 48 for that matter...

In January 2019 when I got stopped for that red light incident, I was about to keep driving and call 911 because it was a sheriff’s deputy in a Chevy Express van; I knew that the local cops did not drive vans on patrol, and I seriously thought it was some creeper who’d put emergency lights on his van and was up to no good...

Turns out that it was a legit LEO, but he and the regular cop he called treated me so unprofessional that they may as well have been impostors!
