Detailing in itself is not bad at all; Almost therapeutic and even fun sometimes, but when person after person buys a Ford Explorer and the Ford Explorer pays 1.7 hours when a similar-sized Subaru Ascent pays a full 2 hours, it can get real old real fast...

There is something I call the bullshit-to-pay ratio, and that job had low pay despite having a very high bullshit factor! The idea job has high pay and low bullshit, but those are far and few between; A job with low pay and low bullshit is okay, but not to make a serious living. Depending on the job, one with high bullshit but equal or higher pay is okay by me. I feel like cops and the military should get much higher pay for what they go through, but that job is also more honorable than detailing cars at a mega-dealership!

Yep, I got sucked into your YouTube videos awhile back and watched several! They were fun. That’s why I asked the question.

Those instructors at school wear lying thru their teeth to him about detailing as they told him he would be making $30-$40 per hour, no freaking chance! Definitely the ideal job would be something you enjoy doing with the least amount of stress to go along with it.

Making HVAC videos got me into a few confrontations over the years, usually with bureaucratic property managers and egotistical rent-a-cops...

I know guys who own their own detailing businesses, and some of them are millionaires; They also treat their employees better than the dealer where I worked did...

I don't know if I told you this, but fist fights broke out between detailers more often than anyone would care to admit; I didn't actually witness any of them, but when you have a bunch of guys in their teens and twenties, in a shitty environment making shitty pay, it's a recipe for disaster!

Definitely it could be lucrative if you own your own business but they were talking about him working at a car dealership. Yeah when people get on edge like that it would definitely be like throwing gasoline on a fire.

Also, I was one of three guys with Aspergers working there; One of them was universally disliked by just about everyone there including myself, and he was one of the ones who got into a fight with another detailer. He damaged a customer's car in a fit of rage, and his termination was likely inevitable after that, but the fact that everyone HATED him expedited his fate! The other guy was laid off for several weeks because of the coronavirus and I don't know if he came back...

One of the biggest problems I have is when people younger than me act superior to me, especially when they are not my boss! My boss from November 2014 to January 2019 was woman just four months older than me, and I had no qualms whatsoever about taking orders from a woman; She is one of the most amazing people I have ever known, and we are still friends! Not long after I left, this one guy I am still friends with was promoted to supervisor, and he would only be 22 or 23 now; I would have a lot of problems taking orders from somebody almost a decade younger than me.

Right now, the guy I work with primarily at my current job is a full nine years younger than me. He has been there longer than me and I am more or less below him; I have clashed with him over having to do menial tasks, but we both love cars and have the same political beliefs, so we ultimately get along...

I remember many years ago a place I worked at promoted a fellow guy that worked on the floor with the rest of us. They took him away for about a month for training and he came back a totally different person, it was like they brainwashed him, can even remember him telling me how great NAFTA was after his brainwashing...

Everycarshow.com has been my go-to place for show info, for years! However, it’s been “under construction” for at least a week (probably longer)...

    What gives?!?!

    :amen:

Way better than these miniature 4-cylinder engines with turbos! My best friend went out of his way to seek out a new Hyundai Santa Fe without the turbo engine because he doesn't trust the turbo engines!
