    I think they're reliable, but have that typical GM cheapness...

    I think all of his vehicles spend more time on the back of a tow truck and mechanic shop than he ever does drive them, lol.

    Off the top of my head he has a CK1500 Flareside, the HHR, a Miata, an Expedition, and a Harley and the Miata was the only one that drives for the moment.

    Am I selfish for thinking the 9 hours every Saturday at the detailing job were so bad?

    I started working 3:30pm to 9pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and 7:50 to 5pm on Saturdays; After probably not even a month, working until 9pm on Friday and then having to get up at 6:30am the following morning got old, and I talked my boss into letting me work Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays instead. A short time later, my hours were changed to 2:30pm-8pm on weekdays. I was paid a flat rate per car, at the equivalent of $10 an hour; The rates were 1.2 hours for sedans and compacts ($12), 1.7 hours for trucks and certain SUVs ($17), and 2.0 hours for larger SUVs ($20), vans, and other large vehicles. For vehicles getting paint sealant and fabric sealant, the rate was doubled to 2.4 hours for sedans and compacts, 3.3 hours for trucks and SUVs, and 4.0 hours for the biggest vehicles. Paint and fabs were the most profitable and had to be given out on a rotation to make sure everyone got their fair share...

    Fleet vehicles were about the least profitable, ranging in pay from just 0.7 to 0.8 hours ($7 to $8) for sedans and compacts to 1.0 hours ($10) for trucks, SUVs, and vans; Everybody HATED doing fleet cars, including me. They paid less because we didn't wax them, but often they were so dirty from sitting in the "quarry" where fleet vehicles were kept that it took about as long as a normal detail to clean them...

    :annoyed:

    @shakerhood

    There were also slow days where very few cars were purchased; As a part-time employee, I only detailed just-purchased new cars, just-purchased used cars, and shitbox trade-ins that were destined for the wholesale auction. If nobody was buying cars, there were no cars to detail, and I didn't get paid!

    :annoyed:

    Another thing that really pissed me off was having to menial work like cleaning the shop for no extra pay!

    Coming from a job at a bar where I got paid ten bucks an hour regardless of what I was doing, that didn't sit right with me...
