I did not get my first SLR camera until Christmas 2009; With the exception of the times I was filming with my aunt and uncle's camcorder, I documented the entire trip with a Fujifilm point-and-shoot digital camera. Back in 2009, I thought all of these pictures came out pretty good, but now that I'm viewing them for the time in more than five years after more than years of shooting with an SLR, I think many of them are pretty crappy!

 

Since 2010, my dad has always rented SUVs when we go on vacation; I do not miss the days when everyone rented boring old American-made sedans!




The brand new Fusion was pretty nice though; My aunt and uncle managed to score a red 2008 or 2009 Toyota Solara convertible, my other aunt and uncle got the same car as my parents but in red, my one aunt had the Impala seen above, and one of the husband's friends rented a brand new Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (I was jealous of that)...

 

Apparently, it's customary in Hawaii to remove your shoes before going in the house (I can remember not being too happy about this)...

Cause electricity is really expensive. And most of the houses are single wall construction so the insulation is shit.

 

We call that a fan palm. The tree in the right is a Norfolk Pine. And it looks like a coconut tree on the left

 

The house we stayed it certainly seemed like it was built out of plywood...

 

Yea you don’t go into a house with your slippers or shoes on. I have never left my shoes on going into anyone’s house. When I lived on the mainland for high school I remember my friends dad was mad at me being bare foot in his house.

 

I'd go back to Hawaii again, but is there a way to fly all the way from Philly to Honolulu or Hilo without stopping somewhere to make a connecting flight?

JFK or Newark has direct flights to Honolulu
