Do you think I'm at much risk of my frame rotting out at this point? My truck is almost 11 years and passed the Toyota frame inspection back in 2017; Two years later and there's no visible signs of rotting. I think the mild winter we had in 2019-2020 really helped me out as well...

I just need the frame to last another 3-5 years, then I'll relegate the Taco to "2nd vehicle" status and buy something newer, with the Tacoma to be used on weekends and for driving to car shows!

If it still looks good now I think you will be ok.

You think you can help me with that? Also, my dealer is willing to go to bat for until at least 2022 if the frame rots; Will applying fluid film void that?

I sprayed the frame down with Body Cavity Wax, still looks brand new. I like that stuff cause it dries, is not a sticky mess, and doesn't make the truck smell like a chemical factory.

My truck didn't smell like a chemical factory after the dealer applied that rhino snot stuff, but it seemed to take a long time to dry!

Yeah it's nice if whatever you use dries a bit in case you have to work on anything under there.

You should be good Charlie, especially how well the vehicle is cared for.

Yeah, but my friend takes excellent care of his 2010 DCSB and the thing still needed a new frame; Rust and perforation is very sneaky on these trucks! :spy:

I just remembered something funny that happened during an open mic night at Puck probably five or six years ago (2014-2015, possibly as early on as 2013; There's a good chance it happened before I officially worked there). There was this reasonably attractive goth chick who was probably 21 or 22 at the time, and her boyfriend who had to be at least a decade older than her; She was a guitar player, and the boyfriend might have been as well but I don't remember...

They weren't bad musicians, but they weren't the best either; On what was likely their first time there, they got into argument with the open mic host about the number of songs. Depending on how many acts there were, each act was limited to two songs; These two scholarly individuals assumed that this meant two songs per person!

Needless to say, they weren't too happy when they found they still could only do two songs, but they went along with it...

One annoying thing about some musicians is that they have an overinflated sense of how good they really are, whether it be at playing an instrument or singing; The couple mentioned above fell into that category! The creepy older boyfriend thought his younger goth girlfriend was the greatest guitarist ever. One open mic night, he approached our sound guy and told him to "really follow her chords" and adjust the settings on the sound system accordingly; The sound guy did his best to oblige, but found it really hard to keep up when the woman kept changing chords every few seconds!

Open mic nights always attract weirdos, it's just a fact of life; Some are weird in a good way, but others make you incredibly uncomfortable...

At Puck from the summer of 2010 (when I first started going; I started working there in November 2014 and became formally employed as a barback in 2015) to January 2019, we saw everything from the usual cover artists, to people who wrote their own songs, to poets, to rappers, and everything in between; It was initially 21+, but then the rules were loosened and people 18+ could perform if accompanied by an adult. By 2016, the ages of performers ranged from 18 to 70+, with most of them being under 30 or over 50...

One kid in his 20s did a cover of "Killer Tofu" from the cartoon Doug; The open mic host would regularly do covers of songs by The Beatles and Nirvana. There was this one guy in his early 70s who did the same damn songs every weeks (most notably "Wagon Wheel"). There was another guy who was a total junkie (he'd lost his driver's license for DUI, and admitted to me that he regularly did meth); He got banned from a well-known venue in New Hope for his outlandish and inappropriate behavior, and of course it was all that venue's fault! :der:

He launched an unsuccessful vendetta against this venue, attempting to slander them on social media, and this one time he showed up at Puck for open mic night, clearly under the influence of something and tried to recruit me to join his campaign against the other venue! This guy was eventually banned from Puck for his behavior and the fact that not many people liked him...

I was always amazed by what some of the people I came into contact with would tell me; A few of them were recovering addicts, and some were current addicts, with heroin typically being their drug of choice...

The vast majority of people who got on stage for an open mic night at Puck were phenomenal musicians, and most of them were good people off the stage as well, but a few of them were had very weird off-stage personas and I tried to avoid them.

On another note, one thing that was generally frowned upon was promoting one venue while performing at another venue; This happened a couple of times...
