Nope, one was an assault in infantry school. They other was when I forgot to close the curtains when I started to choke a jr Marine cause he said something he shouldn’t have while a higher up was walking by.

Sometimes it’s easier to get a new vehicle instead of waiting for your one vehicle to show up and you don’t have one for 30+ plus days and you have to rent one. Cost to rent a car will out spend what the car you’re shipping is worth.

By the way, the car on the cover of the 1990 brochure is the exact car my mom had; The first car my parents bought together after getting married, the nicest car either of them had ever owned (at the time), and the very first car my mom owned that had A/C!

This is the car my mom had before the Camry, and her first new car ever; 1985 Ford Escort!

Stick shift and no A/C! Yes, the picture below is of the actual car my mom owned, taken sometime in 1988 or 1989, either right before or not long after I was born!

Civilian so I didn’t get in trouble with the military on that one. They wanted to see how that played out in civilian court first.

My mom had good credit, but the interest rate was so high that she ended up paying almost double the actual cost of the car!

Damn that’s terrible. My good friend in the Marine Corps had a 22% interest rate on a used car he bought.

Also, my mom seems to end up with white cars a lot; The Escort, the Camry, and the current Murano are all white...

From 1998 to 2000, the green 1996 Pathfinder was hers by default when my dad bought the 1990 Mazda pickup; From 2000 to 2004, it was a blue 2000 GMC Safari; From 2004 to 2013 it was a 2004 Honda Odyssey; From 2013 to 2014 it was my dad’s 2008 Acura TL; The Acura was traded for the Murano on Labor Day weekend in 2014 and that’s what she’s still driving...

    Bad credit?

My friend has good credit, but not a whole hell of a lot of money; She bought her daughter a 2010 Subaru Forester with 100K miles in 2018 or so when she got her license, and financed maybe three quarters of the $10,000 car. Since the car was used and had relatively high miles, her interest rate was through the roof at 8%...

When she told me how much it was, my jaw dropped, and I talked her into paying off the loan early.

There were quite a few Escorts on the road back then. My buddy had an EXP near the end of high school, it was a 2 seater and had some sort of body kit on it.

That’s an Escort EXP, also sold as the the Mercury LN7; So “eighties” it should have been sold with leg warmers!

If memory serves me they didnt pick up the "Escort" nameplate until the 2nd Generation came out. Those metric wheels were weird, think it worked out to be somewhere between a 14 and a 15" tire and were hard to find.

@PennSilverTaco I worked with a kid delivering pizza that drove a green LN7, he looked down at the ticket for the address and launched off the curb. He unfortunately landed on a big old Lincoln that had a for sale sign in the window, he walked up and knocked on the door and told them he just bought their car for sale, lol.
