Came across another fine example of a station wagon while driving around today, and stopped to chat with the owner; 1987 Ford Country Squire with only 83K original miles!

Haggerty has it appraised at $15K and I have a feeling the owner won’t want to let it go for much less than that



I seriously want a station wagon in the worst possible way!

Your Mustang has pretty much the same engine, correct?

 

Similar, but that looks like a Non HO. If memory serves me the high output 5.0's all that the air box on the passenger side.

 

Stopped at the dealer where my dad bought the Taco over 11 years ago, for a photo op; Truck was a big hit with the sales staff!

 

Cracked 121K minutes after leaving the dealership, but the picture got screwed up...

Should I save up for that Country Squire?

 

If that's what you would like then go for it! The one caution l would worry about on a station wagon would be parts, most mechanical stuff would be similar or shared with its sedan counterpart but l would think interior, glass, weatherstrips, and other oddballs that could get difficult. A good idea would be to do some general part searches for any potential cars you might be interested in.

 

It definitely needs tires and weatherstripping; A/C and cruise control are supposed to work...

 

Weatherstripping out back could be a potential problem. Thats awesome if the AC and Cruise work, but both of those should be easy to obtain parts for if they would have a problem.

 

What about Rock Auto for the weatherstripping?

 

Its possible they might have it, all of the stuff forward of the wagon part should be relatively easy. But its all of the parts out back that would concern me as reproduction parts are probably minimal.

 

@PennSilverTaco I am kinda spoiled when it comes to the availability of parts, the aftermarket is practically littered with parts for my car (Tacoma's have a pretty damn good Aftermarket too). When l made certain modifications l also bought extra parts that seemed to be oddballs or difficult at the time just so l would have extras of them.

 

I'm only buying it if I can get it for five grand or less...

 

Like @shakerhood make sure you check around for parts available before you purchase.
