I don’t know but I’d say a long time. There may some accelerated wear on start-up but I know of many company vehicles that get cold started for years and don’t seem to suffer from it other than some nasty rattles on start-up.

What I worry about most on a Tacoma in snowy areas is the frame; How has yours held up?

Also, have you ever used the A/C in your Tacoma, even once? I know it can get fairly warm in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau, but the farther North you get the less likely it is to get out of the fifties; I know for a fact that Utqiaġvik (formerly Barrow) never gets above 45 degrees or so in the summer, and that the warmest recorded temperature there was 79°F in July 1993.

So, TaleSpin is said to take place in or around 1938; Baloo says on numerous occasions that his beloved Conwing L-16 (best known as the Sea Duck) is 20 years old. My knowledge of aircraft is rudimentary, but in my opinion the Sea Duck seems a bit too modern to have been manufactured in 1918!

I’m in Fairbanks so yeah we get a few days each year that the A/C is nice to have.

As for the frame on my Tacoma, time will tell. I guess it’s getting a real torture test of sorts since it’s outdoors year round and quite constantly coated with rain, mud, ice...

My truck was recalled in late 2017, but the dealership found no perforation; It passed not only Toyota's test, but Pennsylvania's stringent safety inspection. My frame was coated in this "rhino snot" stuff free of charge, and three years later it seems to be holding up pretty good!

Definitely! Looks more like something that was conceived in the 30s or 40s.

My uncle was a helicopter pilot in the Army, and once he was discharged he eventually ended up flying 747 freighters for Southern Air; My uncle was born in 1947 and his daughters (my cousins) were born in 1980 and 1983, respectively. My cousins watched the show when it was originally in syndication (September 1990-August 1991), but my uncle says he watched it more than they did because he loved the aviation them so much and really identified with Baloo. My uncle says that the Sea Duck most closely resembles a Grumman Goose.

    Here's something I didn't know...

The character Rebecca Cunningham from TaleSpin was somewhat based on Rebecca Howe from Cheers (Another favorite show of mine that I was introduced to through reruns)!

And her love/hate relationship with Baloo was based on the same relationship Howe had with main character Sam Malone!

    Cartoons suck these days...

Are you young enough to have watched TaleSpin as a kid?
