My truck was still driveable; Didn't damage the radiator or A/C condenser...

I thought what happened to that Dodge was something out of cartoons and movies!

Yeah it was cartoonish for that car to set those bags off, she had to be travelling less than 5 mph. Those early generation airbags come out with serious force, whereas the newer ones are smart and adjust for speed, angles, and weights of the passengers.

I wouldn't have sold the car; Was it new at the time?

I think after that experience she was afraid of the car, thinking it was pretty new at the time.

I understand that, but I would have kept; Maybe with the new airbag disconnected...

I was just talking with @shakerhood about how I'd love to hop in my truck and see the country; I specifically want to go to Yellowstone Bear World in Rexburg, Idaho; For $55 you get to bottle feed a bear cub! I have turned down many gimmicky tourist trap situations because they cost too much, but that is legitimately something I would pay to do!

One time in about 1997, I got to pet a bear cub at a zoo (I forget what specific breed of bear it was); I forget what zoo it was, but I believe it might have been the Reston Zoo in Virginia. The zoo employees were distracting the bears with toys and food, and I remember either my mom or aunt expressed concern that the bear I petted was actually gnawing on the arm of its handler, but the guy assured them that this was normal behavior and it wasn't hurting him.

If this was in fact at the Reston Zoo (again; located in Fairfax County, Virginia), then let me tell you that is one of the coolest zoos I've ever been too; I went there multiple times in the late 1990s and early 2000s. One time, we got to play tug-of-war with the zoo's elephant. The zoo also had tame deer in the petting zoo that you could walk right up to and, for extra money, feed them; This was in 1997, I was eight years old, and I'd never been that close to a live deer before so not only getting to see one but pet one was a pretty special treat! The deer were incredibly friendly, though I don't remember if these were typical deer that you'd see in the wild just about anywhere in North America, or some exotic species that wasn't native to our country; I'm guessing they were your generic whitetails that had perhaps been rescued when their mothers got hit by a car and become too accustomed to human contact to be released into the wild, or perhaps deer that had been injured in the wild and brought to a wildlife rehab center (and again became too accustomed to humans to be released into the wild), or even had debilitating injuries that kept them from being released...?

The Reston Zoo also had a large tortoise shell mounted on typical cart wheels, and kids could climb inside and roll around, pretending to be a turtle and seeing what it was actually like to move around with a shell attached to your body; I'm guessing (and sincerely hoping) that this tortoise died of natural causes before they hollowed out the shell. I actually did climb inside the shell and got a good idea of the shelled reptiles moved so slowly!

The Reston Zoo is still there, but by the time we actually moved to Northern Virginia and the place had lost a lot of its allure (I was 13 years old when we moved to Fairfax County, versus 8 years old when I went for the first time); I don't think we ever went there during the three years we lived there...

$55 is not too hateful and probably helps keep the zoo going.

My dad has gone hunting with friends before, but was never particularly into it himself, at least not to the point that he marked deer season on his calendar and went out by himself; Sometime in about 1995 (we lived here in the Bucks-Mont area for the first time from 1990 to 1996, and have currently lived here since 2005), my dad took me over to the home of one of his Navy buddies after one of their hunting trips. One of them had bagged a decent-sized buck and they were cleaning it in the garage; I believe Pennsylvania has a law against cleaning deer in the woods, or at least leaving the guts in the woods (please correct me if I'm wrong)...?

The deer had already been gutted by the time I saw it, but I did come to face to face with the deer's head; I was not the least bit scared or put off by it, though I can still remember looking into those lifeless black eyes, and that in itself was a bit unnerving...

My dad's friend cooked up some wild venison on the stove and gave me a piece; I tried it and liked it, so he gave me some more. The first and only time I ever tried venison was at the age of six years old; I consider this a milestone, because autistic kids are generally very picky and downright sensitive eaters, but I loved that venison. I don't remember it tasting much different than burger meat! Kinda like in April 2018 when I had frog legs for the first time and enjoyed them a lot more than I thought I would!

I loved that stuff when I was kid; Now it's the type of thing that I have more fun with if I'm introducing a young relative to it for the first time...

You've been hunting before; Is it true that it's illegal to dress a deer in the woods and leave the guts there?

I highly doubt the zoo is doing much business now with the onset of both winter and COVID :(

It's also worth noting that I once hit a deer with the Tacoma, over seven years ago; I was going slow enough that the deer survived and there was no damage to the truck...

This was in October 2013, early on in my brief 3-week career at the Dunkin Donuts; It wasn't even 7am, and I was on Pebble Hill Road. This family of deer came out of the woods on my left, and I slammed on the brakes. If my truck actually hit the deer, there was minimal contact, and this where I think the deer hit the pavement based purely on reflex. The deer fell on its left side, but got up quickly and ran into the woods before I even got out of the truck; I found no damage, not even a tuft of hair, so I continued to work.

Deer running out in the road are so dangerous, the ones that scare me are the indecisive ones that cant figure out which way to run.

They freak out and run off when they hear a twig snap, but they freeze in the headlights of a two-ton metal death machine!

Had one run out in front of the Mustang then freeze, then decided to run but its hoof's just slid and it fell down in front of me.

And for the record, that Dunkin Donuts closed this year; I have no idea why because Dunkin Donuts always seems to be popular and that specific Dunkin Donuts was one of only two in that part of Doylestown (the other one much smaller and attached to a BP gas station). That Dunkin Donuts went in there when the building was built probably 10-12 years ago, and now it's just an empty storefront; I HATED that job! I didn't even give two weeks' notice. I just texted the manager that it wasn't working out, he said "OK", and that was that...

In terms of low pay, it was worse than the detail shop, but at least it was in an air-conditioned space (though I only worked there in October)!

Nope that’s what your supposed to do. You don’t want the animal rotting and getting wasted. You need to cool it down. So you open it up and gut it

Ones a sound and nature that tells them something is around it be on the look out. The other makes them freeze cause they have no idea what it is and are planning their next move to get the hell out

I seem to remember the deer being gutted in the garage; Does the head generally get left in the woods?

You hang them up and dress them in the garage or when you get home. You don’t want to leave the guts in cause it will spoil the meat. Unless your trophy hunting and want to mount the head it stays with the guts. If you are getting the skin tanned you take the brain cause it’s the best way to tan a skin.
