I would have done the same, I'll take my chances with one girl in my vehicle versus a group outside of it any day.

Loved my old Celebrities. I had a pair of the 4 doors in college..and yes they wouldn't croak. My first was a beige 1986 with the 2.8 V6 carbureted. Rust all over the place and 140K but it cost me $100..my sister's friend's father was giving up driving. I didn't feel like pulling the dash apart to swap the AM-FM so I pulled out the ashtray, wedged my arm up there and pulled the wires off, bought a harness adapter and just duct taped my tape player to the floor hump. Ghetto but it worked... Ran it to 150K and only needed a brake line up front and maybe a tire, plus got $200 for some fool denting one of the doors. That one wasn't made with AC and the driver's rear power window was the only one that worked. In October I wasn't too concerned, come June it got toasty though. I bought the master switch and sat down one Saturday AM to find some pinhead must have cut a few wires passing through the door. Only cold thing in the house was water and beer, so I opened a beer and got started. Well, 3 hours later I had them working and about 18 dead soldiers lined up on the hood....

I got a 1988 black Celebrity in summer 1998, 110K and needed an exhaust. I didn't bother trying to start it that day, went back with a battery and spark plugs. The pedal kept getting stuck, so I found the throttle linkage had a rusty spring. I removed the throttle cable and shifted it myself to get home, then pirated one from another 2.5 (Iron Duke) like this one had. Mine had the aftermarket radio plate already but no radio, so I just dropped mine in. It did have AC but didn't work, and by then they wouldn't sell R12 at the parts store. The girlfriend's mom's boyfriend had a HVAC license so he was able to buy it and charged it up. Went to 150K with just regular stuff except the main computer puking. $100 later and 10 minutes to replace. I got $500 selling it to a friend. This one had crank windows come to think of it..

 

It had power windows, but no A/C...?

 

Yup, and yes it was never made with it in the first place. Can confirm.

 

Did it come from New England or somewhere really far north?

 

I was cleaning up a little earlier and went to break down a box from my last Amazon order, never noticed this before but there is a damn description on the label saying what was in the box. Mine said something like drill bits, saw blades, and wire staples, just seems like a bad idea since a thief could see a list of what they are stealing.

 

It must be something new as l dont recall seeing that list before, its seriously stupid for them to do that.

 

Yeah check it out and let us know if you see it, it was freakin printed right on the shipping label.

 

I've heard of people leaving dummy packages full of dog poop with the sole intention of getting porch pirates to steal them!

 

Hmm..not really sure, I think her dad got it used but not positive.

 

I did fabricate my console in my car, cut the ashtray out and put some cupholders in, a company just started offering a copy of this in the past year or so.

I just looked at another older one and it says "Home Improvements" on the description

 

Were you living in Massachusetts at the time? If it came from New Hampshire or Vermont I can see it not having A/C...
