Last summer (June or July 2016): Me, my parents, and my cousin went up to my Grandma's lakehouse in Maine. My girl cousin and I spent the trip watching DVDs in the backseat of my dad's 2013 Honda Pilot. One of the movies we watched was Sisters, starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. I bought the movie on sale at Wal Mart because I knew she would When we saw this scene, we both started laughing uncontrollably...

Before The Force Awakens Stormtroopers were all cloans of Jango Fett. They all had the same demeanor and temperament. As far as killing Owen and his wife....they were only following orders.

    Thet weren't enlisted....but generated genetically

Nice! love junk yard solutions. I pulled a horn from an old Chevy pickup and wired it in parallel. Cheap and easy.

I ordered an "aftermarket" mirror from some website I've never heard of and it arrived within three days. It only cost $39.95 altogether ($30 for mirror and $9.95 S&H).

    Here's the problem...

You really do get what you pay for. The mirror is ever-so-slightly different from the mirror in replaced, most obviously the actual mirror glass. It is noticeably smaller than the factory mirror and there gaps between the mirror and the housing. As a result, it shakes A LOT. My neighbor and I took the thing apart last night and tried to put original mirror on the aftermarket mount, but it's a different design and wouldn't fit. My neighbor "tightened the hell out of the screws" (His own words) when putting the aftermarket mirror back on, and this reduced shaking somewhat, but not totally. The mirror shakes severely when the truck is idling and the transmission is in "Drive" or "Reverse." This is nonexistent with the original passenger mirror. The mirror also shakes a lot at normal speeds (45-60 MPH) and will even shake at lower speeds than that. By comparison, my original mirror only shook when I had the stereo turned up really loud.

The shaking mirror is very distracting at times, so after talking to my dad, he's just gonna buy me a factory Toyota mirror right from the dealer. My neighbor and I will install it so I won't pay any jacked up labor fees. After viewing the dashcam footage, both of my parents believe the incident is not my fault, and though he probably wouldn't admit it, my dad feels bad about what happened.

One of my friends even said, after viewing the dashcam footage, that I had every right to swear at the woman and he would have done the same thing in that situation.

If something like this happens again, I won't get mad. I'll just ask for cash or a blank check from the at-fault party and buy a new mirror from the dealer.

FYI my truck was not really damaged. There was no body damage or even any paint transfer (in which case I would have made these people pay to fix my truck). The left mirror was just sliced clean off. The Pilot, on the other hand, had a nifty little chip on the edge of the door that will probably cost a few hundred bucks to fix good as new if they do decided to fix it.

And then here are some pictures from the day the new mirror arrived via FedEx, and from me and my neighbor installing it...

    Still in the box...

    IMG_5472.jpg

    Fresh out of the box...

    IMG_5473.jpg

I was surprised to find that it came with a new rubber gasket...

    IMG_5474.jpg

Making sure it actually does fit (also, if you look in the lower right corner you see a small grayish black mark; I think the Pilot door may have done that but I don't particularly care)...

    IMG_5475.jpg

Side-by-side comparison of new mirror and broken one...

    IMG_5476.jpg

First time this panel has been off in about 4 years (The last time was in April 2013 when my friend Ross installed the Pioneer component speaker system! My neighbor and I wound up removing it for easier access to the bolts holding the mirror)...

    IMG_5481.jpgIMG_5482.jpg IMG_5483.jpg

    New mirror installed (YAY!)...

    IMG_5484.jpg

And then here are some pics I took a few days ago to show the size difference I've been noticing...

    IMG_5622.jpg IMG_5623.jpg

Had to head over to my neighbor's again because I didn't have the right screwdriver for the job...

Does anybody still use one of these? My dad bought a Truck Club in 1993 or 1994 for his then-new 1993 S-10 Blazer. The Blazer did not have an alarm system and my dad occasionally parked in some pretty shitty areas, so he wanted to make absolutely sure his $20K Blazer would be there when he got back.

I've been to a few places where I was genuinely afraid my truck would be stolen, and I found the Truck Club while looking for something in the garage, so I figured it couldn't hurt to see if this thing would actually fit on my Tacoma. Turns out it did fit...

    IMG_5624.jpg

However, this club was specifically made for trucks (pretty sure there was a "car" version), at a time when even half-ton and compact trucks and SUVs did not even have a driver's side airbag. As such, this club was designed to go in the middle of the steering wheel. My parents did use this club on the 1990 Toyota Camry LE we owned at the same time as the Blazer (Parents bought the Camry new in 1990 and owned it until 1998; My dad bought the Blazer new in 1993 and traded it for the Pathfinder in 1996), but again the Camry did not have airbags either and the steering wheel was probably similar to that of a Toyota truck or 4Runner of the same year.

So, I got the club on with relative ease, but it was a bitch to get back off and my steering wheel cover exacerbated the situation. So unless I fulfill my dream of purchasing an old S-10 as a second vehicle, the only use I'm getting out of this relic in terms of preventing my truck from getting stolen is beating the shit out of anyone dumb enough to attempt stealing my truck in the first place...

And my dad is OCD about keeping records on his vehicles and has window stickers for almost every one he and my mom have owned since I was born.

Here is the window sticker from the 1993 S-10 Blazer my dad primarily used the Truck Club on...
