Replace with a 6 lug frame, get 6 lug parts. Be a nice conversion project.

I had them change my serpentine belt . I thought that was/is a good idea.

Thats getting replaced in the next couple of weeks; It's started squeaking on startup, and that's usually a sign that it needs to be replaced...

    Very funny; I don't think there's much difference between a 5-lug frame and a 6-lug frame anyway...

Also, my gas mileage is bad enough as it currently sits!

I don't see how the frame would change the mileage you would get. I was thinking for aftermarket parts support, there is alot more to offer. Suspension, bearings, wheels, etc.

I don't feel like paying for a new axle, different brakes, etc...

To be honest, I feel like 5-lug Taco is a dying breed and I want to preserve this one; Plus, how can I save up for a house if I keep doing stuff to the truck? Also, the dealer has already ordered the frame!

When’s your frame getting done? If it’s soon then would be a good time. Unless l your mechanic can do it sooner and cheaper

My mechanic can most certainly change out the belt sooner and cheaper! I had to bring my truck to the dealer for an oil change in February 2021 because my mechanic got COVID; Other than that, I have not brought the truck to the dealer in almost two years because while their customer service is great, their prices are absolutely ridiculous!

Lots of people still lust after that model, the removal of the external spare tire is one thing that people disliked. Plus at that mileage you can confidently get about 100K more with basic maintainence. We got $2100 for our 05 base in 2019 with 170K and I really felt it should have been another $1000, but wasn't my choice.

    Struts and coilovers?

IDK about the other stuff, but I paid a little under $1000 for shocks, struts, coils..all Toyota.

Replace your gas tank straps. One of mine broke and almost lost the tank. That was a few weeks after the frame was replaced.

A remanufactured rack is 3-500. Most guys go with brand new OEM which is more. Labor is 6-8 hours. I had a shop do mine a couple years back and they said it was one of the worst jobs they ever tackled. Truck was in the shop for 2 full days.

Back then it was around $70 for both straps from autozone.

Not bad; Probably gonna be looking at $1,200-$1,500 combined for the cost of new parts and the labor to install some of them, but it still beats the shit out of buying a vehicle for an exorbitant amount of money in these crazy times and having five or more years of monthly payments! My truck has over 140K miles on it as of this post and I could probably get close to what my dad paid for it new back in 2009!
